The DMP of Emily

It feels like I am starting my DFW journey properly now that I am going on a DMP with CCCS so I thought it was time for a new diary.

I am still waiting for my pack to come through from CCCS but am hoping that this will appear this week as I am off work and have got the time to read through it properly.

CCCS reckon that it will take 5 years and 9 months to become debt free, but I would like to cut that down to 3-4 years if possible. I will do this by:
  • Asking my boss if I can raise my hours at work - this will mean another £200 a month.
  • Making additional payments every couple of months from mystery shopping money, AQA money, etc etc.
So my jobs list so far is:
  • Change my wages, mystery shopping and benefits details so that they are paid into my Nationwide account instead of my Lloyds TSB account. I have no debts with the Nationwide so my money will be safer there.
  • Wait for my DMP pack and read that throughly and send back ASAP.
  • Talk to my boss about going back full-time (can't do until next week).
I know that I will have to budget really well when I'm on the DMP. Therefore, I plan on doing loads of surveys and points sites so that I can get some vouchers to help with Christmas and birthdays. I'm also trying to apply for a couple of freebies every day as even the free samples help.

I will keep on posting updates everyday :o

please remember one off payments can have a negative effect - your creditors may feel you are hiding money and income then when you come up for your 6 months review they start asking for more and more money and reinstating interest and charges - if i was you i would put extras into a savings account and then you may be able to offer full and final settlements further down the line

Rayday on heres once gave what i thought was the best DMP advice ever - when setting up your budget to creditors make sure you save enough for emergencies and then save again

    good luck with your plan:beer:

:T That's really good advice louietudor. I have missed 2 payments on my dmp over the last 2 years because of emergencies  . Now I've started to save a little into an ISA (big thanks to Emily's payment a day challenge) and it makes sense to to keep this as the emergency fund.

Good luck with the DMP Emily.

Thank you - that's really good advice. I think I will see about opening a savings account now so that I can use that for any spare cash.

Making extra payments is ok if you have a little extra money. When it comes to things such as emergencies, these can be built into your budget for example car tax. Sometimes things can completely come out of the blue that you can’t budget for, in this case let your DMP provider know so they can advise your creditors accordingly.

The last thing your DMP provider would want is for you to get into difficulties and fall behind on your priorities – so it’s always best to keep them informed of any changes to your circumstances.

Ehallett – really hope your dmp goes well, and if you ever need any advice just drop me a PM.

Positive things that I have done today:
    • Chased up the radio station that I won £350 from - they say it takes up to 28 days for cheques to arrive  .
    • Accepted a mystery shop worth £10.
    • Called the benefits people and changed my bank account details.
    • Done a survey worth £4
And I'm not done yet :D;)

    You go girl!!

    Hi

I was reading your thread the other day :D . I got my pack through today. Well, it's just a letter welcoming you and telling you what to do next (make token payments, cancel DDs etc), an agreement to sign and send back with all of the paperwork (wage slips, creditors letters etc) and a letter to photocopy and send to creditors.

There was just one thing that I didn't understand, it says on the letter to creditors 'my DMP will start from' and then you have to put a month - what month do I put as I don't know when it will all be up and running? October I presume?

I didn't talk to anyone, just did the Debt Remedy like you. I did it Monday evening and got the pack today. I won't be able to send it back until Monday though as I want to be able to give them my latest payslip which is waiting for me at work (off this week).

    Hope you get yours soon.
