Where on that page does it say the Back to School offer starts on the 9th? It just says that there is likely to be new models released that day. Last year although the offer included the new iPod Nanos it didn't start until about a week after they were released.

yep sorry... wrong link - I was reading several pages on different tabs

    http://www.macrumors.com/2008/08/01/u-k-back-to-school-promo-starts-on-monday/

my brother knows a good source about it being offered in the UK as well as this rumour site.
so he thinks this is a definite offer for the UK!
    (I certainly hope so!)

a comment on the link above...
'Just got off the phone with apple uk (0208 2181000 ask for sales) and asked about this promotion. He told me he did not know anything about this.
I then said that's ashame as i'm a student going back to uni. Then as i was about to go he told me to check the apple/uk site over the next two weeks, if it was going to happen'

you don't need someone to look it up, you visit the website and click student discount

you can type anything you want in that box, you can say you are on a university on the moon, apple employees on an internet forum i visit have said that noone checks the validity of the data.

although i put in real details when i actually ordered because i didn't want to take that risk and there was no reason to

Photoshop actually now runs a lot faster on windows, the only reason to use a mac is for the UI & unix foundation (which is why i use them)

well, mug51's screenshot has lower prices than going through the education part on the apple website:

As above, the top/best discounts come only via your university's computer network :)

so I have to wait until I actually start my course and have received my 'uni' email address?
I would then have to use one of their computers to purchase the iMac right?

Has anyone actually received the higher discount by going into the store and showing their uni/ucas/finance letters?

I would prefer to buy it before the course... as I'll have to be at home the day it arrives!

arrrgghhh... so want one now! :o

You get exactly the same prices whether you buy instore, over the phone or online. You just have to make sure you are getting the "Higher" Education discount and not the standard education one. If you buy in store you won't get the 3 years free warranty as you can only get that online or over the phone.

Over the phone they will just ask you to scan and e-mail them your UCAS letter once you have finished the call, then they process the order for you.
