John Lewis online are selling Samsung 50" Plasma HD Ready Digital tv for £699, 5 year guarantee. Model is PS50A457...

    This is an excellent tv. I bought it for my son for £849 in Fenwick last month but can't get the price match as it was longer than 28 days ago. Must say I have had it replaced as the first one got screen burn after 2 days but the second set is fab.

    I would advise anything over 32" to be plasma, LCD looks horrible over that.

    Ive just got that tv yesterday from currys, £699 pay nowt until aug next year.Its a belter!!

    Not 1080p, but still a good price for this tv.

    Yes sweeping statements will never be right. But in 'general' when you have a v.large screen (above 40 inches) a plasma will look better. Less blocky and digitally.

    And the lcd's that do look good at larger sizes tend to be very expensive.
