hi,this is my first posting so be gentle;)
in june 2007 i signed up to talk talk,i was with bt,i got my go live date and thought all was well.
not one to check my bank statements i presumed that money was being paid as i didnt recieve a letter stating otherwise.
anyway, this week i recieved a bill from bt for just over £1800 !!! dated from june 2007:eek:
i called bt who said we dont know why u didnt get a bill but we will let you pay £100 a month(how kind:rolleyes: ),i went to the carphone warehouse to ask for their angle on it and they said BT refused to let me change to talk talk, they are under no obligation to let me know that i was refused,it was BT that should have informed me...i have no idea why BT refused me as i never had a debt with them.
what is the chances of getting this bill reduced???

What exactly are they saying that the £1800 is for?? You need to get a full breakdown of the bill and also an explanation of why they didn't migrate your phone (and ISP?) services. And in future... have you thought about checking your statements? Why not join us on the DFW board and check that there isn't likely to be any other hidden surprises waiting to pop up...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

they have sent me breakdown of the bill, its for calls, line rental etc from 2007/08 including £75 of reverse charges charged at £5 a time!!
and i have definatly learnt my lesson about checking statements now.
i will call them in the morning and lodge a complaint.
thank you

Firstly it is bad that they have just sent you a bill for that amount after such a long time.
Secondly I have worked for 2 call centres (telecommunication companies) and they cannot charge you more than six months of arrears due to a payment error on their part make sure you mention this to them when you call

Yup if its a problem with them not billing you, or taking the payments from your bank then they tend not to charge more than 6 months of back charges (that is if the customer kicks up a stink about it and rightly so) of course they will ''try'' to make you pay the whole lot but their policy is 6 months maxSeptember wins: 101 Love songs album 5 cds - Bowtime Fridge magnet!? - So..? I seem to remember reading about a two year limit for companies back-billing when the customer was not at fault - but that may have just been for energy suppliers. I have been unable to find any references online to either a six-month or two-year limit. Update: The two-year limit was just for energy companies, and it is now reduced to one year. http://www.energy-retail.org.uk/pdfs/9437_Codes%20of%20PracticePages.pdf0

That would be pretty daft for me to say on here wouldnt it? considering i worked for them and signed a contract of confidentiality but one of them is now an outsourced company called Pipex? i was a team manager there so dealt with this on a regular basisSeptember wins: 101 Love songs album 5 cds - Bowtime Fridge magnet!? - So..?
