Try startrite. They're great for big, wide feet and well made. Our nearest Debenhams does Clarks and Startrite shoes and they fit them well. (With one exception who knows not to bother trying to serve us now.:o )

Thankyou everyone for all you brilliant advice and reassurance, I find shoe shopping for her a bit traumatic since I got my purse pinched in clarks and they never seem to have any shoes that will actually fit her properly, we have had to return 2 or 3 pairs so far. Will wait and try all the suggestions above. Have a nice wee wander round the Ferry soon cheekyweegit.
Will certainly have a wander round the Ashford outlet nikiyoung, suspect even if we don't get shoes there , there will be a few things I have to buy just because theres money off!
I'm glad she is not the only 3yr old with such big feet (suspect the others may all be boy's though?) Since she was 9lb 8& half oz at birth I don't think she is ever going to be a delicate wee thing but hey she's the most gorgeous wee girl I've ever seen so I don't mind what size her feet are :p
No desperate rush for new shoes so will just keep my eyes open and see what we see.
Thanks again everyone:T your all stars.
    xx Vi

My oldest's feet were so big and he crawled so early that I couldn't get shoes to fit (only shoes for walkers which are too firm for crawling feet.) I ended up putting him in slippers till he was walking confidently. At least his feet were warm when we were playing in the park.

My dd was the same GR I didn't want to put her in shoes too soon and the soft bootees that you get were just too small, but she needed something on her feet for nursery, I found the roobeez type shoes were excellent and went up quite big, I managed to get a new pair on ebay, they can be expensive, but they are lovely and soft & protect there feet when they are out and about.
Just thought I'd add this in case anyone has any babies with big tootsies in a similar situation

    My DD was a big foot. She's 13 now and a petite 5' 2" but same shoe size as me, 6.5 (I'm 5' 6").

Not sure what size she was at 3 but her first pair of shoes (Startrite) were a 4.5 C and she was just over 10 months old. She could only have one style as she has a low instep and arch (almost flat footed). She'd alway had big feet despite being not being a big child. Those cotton baby booties that were fashionable (like these) had to be age 12months when she was just 6 months old. I remember trying to buy a pair for her as she was walking around the house via furniture or with a push along and we have solid wood floors and she couldn't keep socks on as they were too loose for her skinny little legs and feet!

I intially went to the Startrite shop but manager there didn't inspire me with confidence as I could see DD foot squashed in the shoe and she told me she was too young for shoes. I wasn't being awkward but she was walking out the garden and needed protection for her feet so took her to an independent shoe retailer. Before he even measured her he asked to see her walking to see if her feet were flat on the floor. He knew instantly which shoe style would fit her and I went to him till he closed down. I also bought from him contential make boots which are much more funky and different makes seem to specialise in either narrow or wide feet.

DD feet grew like mad for a few years and I tended to buy her just nice patent lace up boots in winter time which looked nice with a dress or trousers. She found them more comfortable as I her foot was held in place better with laces as narrow shoes, like wider shoes are limited in styles and colours.

  • When I was pregnant with DD I couldn't wait to have a little mini-me but when she arrived she was blond haired and blue eyed to my brown hair green eyes. She looks absolutely nothing like me but the one thing I didn't want her to inherit was my big feet. I'm a size 7 and have been since I was 11. It was a nightmare when I was younger. She is now a Clarks size 1G at the age of 6. She is very flat footed and has insoles provided by the hospital but she outgrows them within about 2 months. I can't believe the price of Clarks shoes. I could get 3 pairs of shoes for myself for the price I pay for one pair for her.
