Childrens shoe advice please (another one!!)

Options
Hi all, we got my dd's feet measured today in Clarks she's a 10H , They only had 2 pairs that might fit and they were school shoes, it will be 2 years til she goes to school so I doubt they will still fit, anyway they were the open front Maryjane style and they are no good to her as aswell as wide feet she has a high instep and a narrow heel so they would not support her feet at all.
She is only just 3 is a size 10 that big for a 3, year old? And does anyone have any idea where I could get her fitted shoes. I'd just like some niceish shoes for her. She's spent the summer in crocs & canvas shoes. But they are no use for the winter which I feel is fast approaching.
Booo!!!

My daughter is 5 and was measured today at a 10G:D , but she is little. My 8 yo son is an adult 3. , we couldn't find any suitable school shoes at one and the other had too long a queue so we left it. Unless she's desperate for shoes what about waiting another week or so when the 'back to school' rush has gone and there might be other styles in.

As for places offering fitting, I have a lack of places here, only Brantano and Clarks. In the nearest city there is more of a choice tho only kids at clink come to mind at min.

Hi, just wanted to say I've just bought my dd new school shoes and she's a 10 1/2 H, she is just 5 but I think both my girls have small feet anyway? Is there any other stores near you, or now you know she is a 10 just get some cheaper ones, I buy from next etc but do tend to get their school shoes from clarks. You might be able to find some clarks ones on ebay without them being school shoes, worth a look.

Thankyou, she is big for her age just over a meter but I think she's just had a stretch as she discovered at the weekend that she could turn the light's on & off (and on & off &on&off lol) without getting her wee stool out. She isn't desperate for shoes yet and as it looks like she is taking a stretch it's probably best to leave it for a few weeks.
Not heard of Kids at Clink? so don't think theres 1 here but we are going to Kent next month so will look out for them, think theres a Clarks outlet there too so will maybe try there.
Please someone with a size 10 3yr old post or I'll think I have a bigfoot toddler.

My DS2 has just turned 3 and he is size 9G - is that close enough to make you feel a bit better?

He is tall as well, 105cm when I last checked. My light switches must be a bit higher than yours, because he's not turning them on and off yet, hehe.:rotfl:

  • I can't remember what size my DS's feet were when he was 3, but I do recall when I started wearing his hand-me-downs! When he was 9, he gave me a pair of size 5 trainers he'd outgrown. Since they were a unisex style they did me for a while. He's now 14, almost 6' tall and takes size 12.5 shoes. He's always had wide feet, but I remember some of the ones in DE shoes (which just came in standard or wide rather than more specific width fittings) fit him well and didn't cost a fortune.

my boys were in a size 10 at 3 years old, and by the time they were in juniors were in an adult size 6, and couldn't get plimsolls to fit, which caused trouble at school, but what can you do when they only go up to kids sizes, the boys continue to grow, and now they are 13 years old (TWINS), they have just had another growth spurt, and are in an adult size 14, and buying shoes is becoming more and more impossible, and they have very wide feet as well, so you are not alone in having a child with big feet
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)

I took my 1 year old daughter to get shoes a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't a lot of choice in Clarks. The assistant said they had masses of school shoes in, but once the back to school rush was over, they would get more winter style shoes in. If it's not urgent that she needs shoes now, I would hang on for a few more weeks and try again.
Here I go again on my own....

I agree, you are not alone - I've had this problem with all three of my children but thankfully, the girls feet have slimmed down a little one to a 'G' fitting and the other to an 'F', thankfully. DS was always a 'H' but we found football boots the worst pain for him!

There is hope her feet will slim down yet as some are still 'toddler' shape at three. If she just goes down to a 'G' it will help a lot!

As said, unless she needs them right now, you may be better leaving it until the shops are quieter?

We did find ds could only wear startrite shoes at one time, but he was a bit younger - around 2 years old I think - because Clarkes weren't wide enough, so that may be worth a try.

Prepare yourself for hefty shoe bills though as it looks like you'll be paying adult prices (and VAT  ) way before she leaves school!

Oh and plimsolls - they are a nightmare for children with wide feet, I will warn you now!

If you have an independent shoe shop you can go to that sells "continental" brands, you'll get a huge choice of funky shoes, and they'll be a better fit and better quality than you'll ever get from Clark's.
The downside is that they'll probably cost at least £40.

I'm not too proud to spend that amount on shoes, then clothe them from Primark :D
