They have. The Eee power supply is only 9x4x3 cm. Perfect for travelling. :p

I'll add a vote for the Eee. I'm on my second one. I bought an original Linux 701 when they first came out last year which I loved, but always felt it needed a slightly bigger screen. I took delivery of a Linux 901 two weeks ago and I was right. The bigger screen and longer life battery have taken an already fantastic machine up several levels.

I'm not a Linux geek, but using the Eee has not been a problem in any way whatsoever. If you really want, the Eee comes with XP too, but I wouldn't bother.

Why would you not bother with xp?

Also can you view web pages in full width or do you have to scroll sideways?
Finally where is the cheapest place to buy the
Asus Eee PC 901 Windows XP - White - EEEPC901-W007X

    thanks

  • I too would prefer a small laptop instead of the HP brick I have. Is there anywhere that offers part exchanges?

There's no need for it and the Linux version is much better value.

That was a problem on some sites with the 7" screen but the 8.9" screen has a higher resolution and I haven't had to scroll sideways yet (unless some idiot posts too big a picture on the forums, but that's a problem with most desktops too).

This site tracks stock and prices on various sites. Looks like Misco are the cheapest for the white XP verion. Bear in mind that the Linux version comes with a 20GB drive but the XP version is 12GB (they have to pay for that XP licence somehow).

Prefer it to what sahun? I didn't think PC World stocked the Eee PC 901, just the smaller screened (and quite different looking) 701.

Prefer the Advent to the Asus Eee. Yeah PCworld have both instore (same with curries). It is slightly bigger, with much larger HDD and memory, and cheaper. Am going to try PCworld Business......if they ever get any in stock as they are another £60 cheaper.

I came across a rumour that they were supposed to get more stock on 2 Sep. But who knows with that organisation?!

The Eee in PC World is not the new 901 model, but a completely different earlier one (the 701). Chalk and cheese.

I wonder on what date, and for how much, Aldi will actually sell their MSI Wind = Advent 4211 clone which they give the snappy title of Medion Akoya Mini 10" NETBOOK E1210?
