I've got crushed chicken bones, and steamer juice, and an onion past its best in the slow cooker making stock tonight.
Tomorrow, I'll just darin the gunge away, put the stock back in the (unwashed) slow cooker, and make a hearty veg soup, with my lonely few veggies I have left, and HM bread.
There'll be enough soup for lunch at work on wednesday too!.
Sounds a bit posh - doesn't it crushed chicken bones!
I have my slow cooker bubbling away!
Friends of mine leave their evening bath water in (they have no small children to fall in it) and use it during the day to flush the loo! Another friend has a bucket outside the water butt, fills it and its next to the loo for you to flush with, you then go out refill it and put it back for the next person, the water company came out to check her meter wasn't broken - she'll soon be charging them rent for it!
I think I read on here ages ago that if you crush the bones when you make stock its more tasty, as the bone marrow is released?? I do drain the stock in a sieve then, so no nasties get through.
