I have UAC disabled as well. Had no problems since Vista was released.
Vista is perfectly fine as long the Hardware meets the spec required and is compatible with what you use.
No problems at all with it.0 -
yup! hello antivirus, hardware firewall and experience (1st used the 'internet' in around 1995, and I don't mean prestel!)
If I wanted virtualisation I'd run everything in a VMUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

I bought a new dell a couple of weeks back and wondered how am i supposed to know wether its a 32 bit or 62 bit version of vista?:idea:0

ive used and installed just about every msos since 3.11 , and of course dos.
I had issues with vista on the beta , even with new machine classed as every component vista ready...but when i bought an oem os after release all was well not single crash in a year.
I use a pc for just about everything every day , except for spreadsheets , everyting from forum posting to encoding.
Vista is what ms should have had in xp , xp aint that bad neither after sp1 if you rip into it.
Even "winMe" was good for the average user if bought in a box off the shelf.
Ubuntu , a linux variant , could well be the only real competition to msos.
The only negative thing i can think of with vista is that a "real" system restore is missing. But if you dont travel by car you dont need a seat belt , right?
It is starting to bloat now , im all for streamlining and do regular cleans and removals of uneeded programs , there must still be a chunk of the os i dont need or use at all.If only there was a way to determine what i use and need in drivers , files like sys and dlls and remove them while keeping system integrity I am sure i could rip it by a third for full functionality.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -
Ok ~ I have UAC disabled (cos it annoys the hell out of me and slows the computer down)
The only issue ive had with mine so far is playing certain video media (which ive now found a cure for). And on my dads when I tried to put a higher screen resolution on for MY desktop it changed everyones!? (That I still have no clue about)
Theres have been other niggles but nothing major..........:idea:0 -
Why would you disable one of the main security features of the operating system?
Because i like to think i'm smart enough to decide what i want to do with my computer and not have a machine decide it for me!
and whats so secure about it?....i click yes or no....not very secure if you ask me...especially for some one who has no idea what they are doingIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Go read up on what UAC is implemented for, you'll understand it's functions more..0
