Sorry if this is a really silly question to ask but just wondering what is the best memory stick and disc to go for in terms of make, how much memory/space it has and the cheapest/most reliable place to get them from, either in the shops or buying on the internet.
Would really, really appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

For memory stick do you actually mean memory stick or a USB flash/pen drive (memory stick may also refer to SD cards for cameras, phones etc or Sony DUO memory sticks etc etc)? Really depends what you want it for and the main purpose in getting it, i.e. for speed and capacity (will you be storing lots in one go, will there be very frequent large file transfers...). As for "disc" are you talking about CD/DVD/Blu Ray discs? If so again it depends on what it's for and what you actually have (CD/DVD/Blu Ray/HD-DVD writer capability)."She is quite the oddball. In short, which type do you need and what are you using it for?
As a general rule, though, avoid ebay and Amazon marketplace sellers.0 -
I just recently bought an 8GB usb stick from a certain office supplies retailer for £20! I think that is a fairly good bargain!
You can use them to improve Vista performance too!0 -

Whether that's a bargain or not (ignoring what you need it for) depends on the make/model/reliability/ruggedness/physical size and speed. You can get an 8 GB Corsair Voyager from Scan for £17.50 which is a very well known and respected make (i.e. reliable, high quality) which I believe has a write speed nearing 20 MB/s."She is quite the oddball. This was a Kingston Datatraveler with retractable usb plug. As I bought it over the counter and didn't have to go via the mail order route, I was quite pleased with the deal!0

For high street (who was it?) that is indeed quite a good deal. Of course we don't actually know for certain that the OP even wants a USB flash drive."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I'm not really in favour of advertising big companies on forums, particularly as they have big enough budgets to promote themselves, hence my reticence in naming them, however they are a very famous office supplier rhyming with Maples lol!! or indeed the tiny metal fastenings found down the spine of a magazine.0

There's nothing wrong with recommending or mentioning a company on this forum. If you're explicit it then helps everyone whether it's saying something good or bad about a company. The forum abhors advertising but personal experience isn't advertising. A good deal or good company deserves promoting, and I'll specifically mention companies and services I've been pleased with if the subject comes up (the OP did afterall actually ask for specific places). And conversely I'll condemn any companies I've had bad personal experiences with. If we all give enough specific info anyone can then make an informed interpretation and decision.
Staples, there I said it. And the forum hasn't collapsed."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The Gods of Advertising are displeased with me. I'm going to quickly go and worship at the foot of a billboard to appease them."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
