Hi, just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for your posts :T

I had a horrid morning with a constant sinking feeling in my stomach and couldn't eat or be bothered to do anything but then made myself get dressed this afternoon and went to meet a friend just for a couple of hours. It was a struggle to stop myself from crying on the way there but I have been better since I got back and have eaten some dinner and looked at some school stuff!! Not actually got as far as planning yet, but it's a start and definite progress from yesterday.

And I AM going to get up and ready for church tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to get stuff done after that.

    Thanks again everyone - :A

What do you teach? Maybe someone on here could help

froddington - now that really does sound like depression. You have stacked up a fair few stress factors recently, so take however much time you need to be well. It'd real silly to rush back when you're not ready, and then end up having even more time off! And you'll have no energy for flying either!

I'd be inclined to try and see your GP on Monday, and tell him/her how you are feeling. I'm too out of touch as a only-just-returned-to-teaching-supply, but I reckon Michelle is spot on, you should have a managed return.

    Nice to be back here!!!:j

I had a good day and in case you didnt mange to see my post on yahoo I have copied it here - I know thats a bit naff but I am sooooooo pleased with today and soooooooooooooo veeeeeeeeeery grateful for all your help I just wanted to share with you what I have done.

Sorry if you have seen it already!!

    Hi everyone
hope everyone is still having a good day - serena I hope yours has
improved greatly - what a selfish bunch - go on MAKE THEM SUFFERR!!!!

WHAT A GREAT AMONT YOU HAVE RAISED SOAPPIE!
    oops sorry about the capitals!!

I have had a pretty good day I think! I went and posted an amazon
book this morning and was meant to be coming straight back bur as I
missed my bus I thougHt I would check out a charity shop while I was
waiting (one of my hobbies!) I got enough wool for a jumper - all new
for £4.50 - another seagrass basket come tray or maybe will be my in-
tray on the kitchen table soon and a pair of new leather ankle boots -
    so was well chuffed.

After I had my lunch I started on the filing - well I havent done a
huge amount of filing but have shredded 2 bin fulls and thrown out
loads of offers/catalogues etc- found all but one of the direct debit
things I needed and have phoned up and changed them - I made a phone
call to an elderly friend who has moved into a home(quite a bit away
now) to arrange for me and a friend to go and see her in a couple of
weeks time. Then after a coffee I put on my portable dvd player in
the kitchen - The Green Mile - and did some more sorting of the
table. I am not near finished but I now have various files stared -
and filed in them - I now have a reading pile which then can be
binned and I managed to eat my tea one one corner so it is only 5/6
    covered in papers now!!!!!
Have also done a washing - none pf which needs ironing and it is just
airing off and then will be put away!

feel as if i have achieved something today.
Oh and as I was going along I added a few things to the respective
list that I came across on bits of paper or things that occurred to
    me!

I actually enjoyed myself once I got started - so thank you all so
much for helping and pointing me in the right direction.

I have started so i really want to get it finished this time!!!

As i write this and check the posts I have a bundle of stuff on my knee which is getting fed to the shredder - it will be good to get it organised.
And I have been on the main site and have downloaded the letters to do my bank charges re-claim.

    Toots xx

tootifrutti - WELL DONE!!!! Have a  or :coffee:Carol can lend you a mug :D And fantastically well done Carol too!

I have now printed off the scheme of work for classes. I don't feel better. I've looked at the Spanish  The Year 8 classes (bottom sets, I have both of them doing the same topic) are doing The Town, which isn't too bad. The Year 9 are doing Food. The Head of Department told me at the end of term that she hasn't yet done the scheme of work for the year 8 - they do all sorts of cross curricular work. Goodness knows what I'm supposed to be doing with them. I just have to have something prepared for Thursday, as back up, in case it all goes pear shaped! I think there are quite a few Polish children in the class, so if all else fails, we'll survey favourite meals in all our countries!

frodders too right it sounds like depression.

I do think you should have the return to work programme - i have had this twice in the past couple of years.

    1) off work for 5 months with problems with my throat - it all boiled down to being so stressed and holding tension in my neck and i really strained my voice. I was told by a union guy i should have had a occupational therapist out to the house once i had been off a certain length, can't remember how long, but it didn't happen. On my 1st day back, i had a meeting with my head of year and the deputy head - they promised lots, did not a lot, but kept me on no timetable for the first week so i could observe my classes and plan, i was removed from form teacher responsibilities and management responsibilities until i felt able to cope. I had regular observations and meetings to discuss my progress.

    2) off for one year on maternity leave. Returned into the back to work programme (ie teacher in need of support) and had regular meetings and observations, was taken off the cover list, and had my management role renegotiated when i was not coping. It peeved me off cos for 2 terms i was in this support category and i felt i couldn't relax into my teaching, but at least it was done for my best interests.

I know full well when i return again after this mat leave i will be back in that category again. And the thought now is enough to put me off to be honest.

Anyway, i will only add that i find it impossible to do prior planning in any depth in the holiday, and i only start to do it properly when i get in the classroom environment again. Listening to viv and serena, i think i am not the only one. I think we are the worst procrastinators. I think you might have to suck it and see, but i wish you the best of luck and if i can be any help, ask.

Only popped back as DH started watching a different film and i wasn't bothered. My biscuits were not nice, they had caster sugar in the recipe and they tasted really bitter. They were also really crumbly. Will have to put that in the category of not worth bothering with that recipe again.

Tooti well done - that sounds like progress not perfection to me. Another bit tomorrow and you will soon be there.

    Michelle, x

I teach key stage 2 children in a special school - all subjects! I have arranged with 2 other teachers to share some planning so we each have less to do which is good! It's not the planning itself that's too much of a problem - it's that I can't concentrate for long or get motivation to do anything

Think I am going to look at planning for Thurs and Fri tomorrow and then worry about the other days later on or even next weekend.

I have emailed my head to explain things and am sure she will understand.

Time for Match of the Day now:j
