Barclays Connect/Electron Visa Debit with Ryanair ?

Options
 Im a money saving expert like the man in the corner without his gorgeous girlfriend.

I applied for a Visa Electron card from Barclays and was told by the Bank man that its the exact same though it no longer says Electron on it.

So i booked 2 adult return fares to Bournemouth for an amazing £40 return so i pulled out my special new Connect card and used the electron sign in Ryanair and it was declined 3 times.

So why is that ? The bank man said it was definatley a Electron

And now the flights cost £56 if i dont use it please help ??:T

Looks like it's a visa debit:
    Connect card
The name of your Barclays Bank debit card. You can use it to withdraw money from cash machines and pay for things in shops and other outlets.

A debit card offered by Barclays that lets you withdraw cash from any Barclays, Woolwich, PLUS or LINK cash machine - as long as you have the money in your account. You can use it in stores displaying the VISA Electron sign and some will allow you up to £50 cashback when you're shopping. Unlike a Connect card, VISA Electron cannot be used as a cheque guarantee card.

Don't get stung every time you use your Visa debit or credit card to pay BMI Baby, Easyjet or Ryanair. Open a cashminder account with the Co-op bank, which has a visa electron card. You can make cash deposits at a post office. These clear instantly.

Halifax, Lloyds and barclays all offer their own basic accounts as well with visa electron as far as I can see from their websites.

 Thanks for your replies, it looks like the bank man just wanted a new customer ?

I said i needed a Visa Electron to get cheap flights and he said YES it is an elctron card, funny how its not accepting it as it has £160 in it just now.

Anyone reading this if you want a Visa Electron you can get one from the Post Office though they charge 1.5% to top it up with funds.

I will be calling Barclays soon to complain.

I didnt want a Visa Debit i needed a Visa Electron to save this £16 Ryanair charge
