It's simple. You, like me, don't have a tumble drier. Therefore, we are chav scum.

Umm, do you have one of those wooden slatty things on a rope that hangs from the ceiling? You lower it down, put the clothes on, then haul it up again. We have one of those, but we also have a tumble drier. So, I'm not sure where that leaves us chav-wise?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We have a washer-dryer, but tend to use the clothes airer thing, like the one you describe. Washer-dryers are expensive to use for drying, so we only use it if it's really humid and we have too much stuff to dry.

I actually love my washing line, hanging out washing is one of my favourite chores (sad I know!) It is quite therapeutic and the dog chases the rotary round and round while I'm doing it. I love my garden so love being out there, and luckily our's is at the bottom of the garden so can't be seen from the house (or anyone else's), so doesn't look messy. Drying clothes without any electricity is great, and they smell good as well.
I do like having the tumble dryer as a back up though, especially for double duvet covers and towels in winter.
DId without one for years though and I always managed to dry everything without a problem!
Feel I am missing out on one of these airers that come from the ceiling though, where does one get such a thing?

We have a tumble dryer which changes direction of spin so the clothes come out more or less crease free although we don't use it much. I have heard that washer-dryers are not as efficient as a separate dryer, they don't dry too well? That, and the fact one can't have a wash on whilst drying. I would only consider one if I had a lack of space I guess.

We however have the bulk of our laundry done by a collection service. It comes back pristine, starched and ironed. It is certainly worth the money. Ironing is a pet hate of mine and I find it very boring.

I don't iron stuff that doesn't need doing - my MIL irons knickers and socks:confused:
Someone has too much time on her hands!
My OH only irons his collar and the sleeves of his work shirt - he claims his stab vest covers the rest so there is no need!

Oooh I love them. Not sure they would go in my house, but if I had an AGA or a country kitchen I would most definately get one of those!

They dry OK, but are less efficient. Space is the main reason, as you suggested.
