There's leather sheets on that webiste as well - they must be extremely uncomfortable.

    Damn they sound kinky.

Anyway, op. DO NOT PICK SHEET COLOUR WITHOUT WIFES [STRIKE]CONSENT[/STRIKE] INPUT.

I've always thought satin sheets sounded very slippery & maybe hot in the summer too.

IMHO I think you can't go wrong with white cotton sheets, Dreams have 20% off at the mo. I just got 2 fitted sheets, 2 duvet covers & 4 pillows in Egyptian cotton, for just over £150, before discount.

I'm sure she'd be happy with the brown, I'm just weighing up whether to have the 'boudoir' all done up for her return, or to wait for her judgement on the right combination of silk, satin, cotton, and colours, etc.

    Wait - definitely!

My son had silk sheets and kept getting static shocks from them. Ended up giving them away.

If you get really high cotton thread count sheets (mainly 400 but 300+ is good too) then these will feel really satiny and smooth without being clicky like satin.

    Here for info http://www.dunelm-mill.com/range/Pima%20Jacquard//1

As others have said though wait for your OH to get back before making a decision.

Given that he's just ordered a shipment of hardcore !!!!!! from the States, I can't see the OP going for pure white cotton sheets!!!! :rotfl:

    very observant!

Though the TV's downstairs, so with respect to that, I think this is actually a more important thread: Cheap recliner sofa, than the colour of my sheets. ;)

hmm, I have to say I do like nice sheets in a 5 star hotel when I go on holiday, they are very snuggly. Though I think a lot of that might be to do with the fact they get changed everyday. Not very practical at home....

I had the same idea, about 5-6 years ago now, bought some Egyptian cotton sheets online. Can't find a record of the purchase so dunno if they were actually good-quality ones. But they haven't been particularly special...

Anyway, the Mrs. was quite clear she wanted satin, the ones in the original post claim to be better quality than the £15 ones ebay (and at six times the price they should be), but not sure if it's worth going that bit further and getting silk satin rather than polyester satin. Shame you can't try before you buy.

Other problem is the mattress I ordered is 27.5cm deep, the 'deep' sheets they list are only 26cm, so a bit confusing really.

hi i have the same bed as yours and i also wanted satin sheets ,dont do it they are horrible to sleep on my pillow kept slipping from under my head lol .

i eventually went for cotton sheets and a velvet duvet with faux fur throw very cosy for the cold nights and looks just as sexy as the satin ones .
although the satin or silk look amazing they are not in the slightest practical or comfortable .
but if her heart is set on them definately buy the cheaper ones incase you dont like them .

IMO, satin sheets are horrible and a waste of money.

I had 400 thread count sheets, but once you have slept on silk sheets, you can't go back to sleeping on cotton.

I tried the pillowcases first and they also make lovely presents. Mine are 16 momme and so is my duvet cover.

However, it is best to go for the 19 momme seamless deep fitted sheet.

Puchased mine from here over a period of time:

I chose the ivory and navy blue colours, but also have the red and maroon pillowcases.

Friend bought me a lovely silk duvet. It is wonderful. Cool in summer, warm in winter.

Best to go up onesize, so kingsize on double bed.

I haven't experienced electric shocks from them.

Washing and care of silk sheets:-

Best to wash on 30c silks cycle. Mine spin on 400. I'm currently using Special Machine Woolite for delicates. 99p from HomeBargains.I add a dash of white vinegar instead of FC.

Drip dry INSIDE the house as silk does not like the sun. Silk dries very quickly. No need to iron.

It is very hard getting out of bed:rotfl:
