The Mrs. says she wants some satin sheets to go with our new brown leather bed.
Seems you can buy them on ebay for £15

or here for £105

does anyone know if it's worth paying more? I couldn't find anything more expensive on ebay, so is the latter just a rip-off?

hmm, decided to go for silk instead (three hundred squids!!!!) Link http://www.betweenthesheets.co.uk/silk-sheets-bed-linen/luxury-mulberry-silk-bedding.htm
Sartorial advice required, as the wife's away!
Which colour do I go for?

Given that I bought this bed:0 -
wait until she returns and choose together perhaps?
Not just the colour, but whether you wish to spend such a large amount on sheets.
do you already have a duvet cover or will that be another expense?
what is the colour scheme in the room/duvet? that will influence your choice
have you ever slept on satin/silk sheets? they are quite slippy and it could be a lot of money wasted if you decide you're not keen.
(the website you showed a link for also has poly satin sheets and bedsets which are cheaper than silk btw)
real silk sheets are far from cheap, but are great for anyone with asthma, allergies,or skin problems like eczema, but they do need a bit more care- low temp washing(with silk wash)/ironing and you need to check the momme rating (similar to thread count for cotton, needs to be higher rating for sheets say 19)
having said all that, are you going for the tarts boudouir look with those red ones?????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
personally i think cream would look lovely but you haven't listed that as a possible....
still think you should wait for Mrs Meester0 -
We had some satin sheets as a wedding present years ago - and used them once!
They were dreadfully slippery, but the worst thing was 'catching' them with finger/toenails; even if you're well manicured the slightest thing will snag them."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
I'm starting to like the idea of satin sheets0

There's leather sheets on that webiste as well - they must be extremely uncomfortable."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

the Mrs. is brown so I reckon she'd look good in brown sheets....
Not sure what to do about the duvet cover, they are even more expensive if you get silk, possibly a cheap poly satin one....0 -

if the Mrs has curly hair steer clear of Poly... Anything unless she fancies a static frow!    (these are a scarily acurate picture!)
I always use silk pillow cases. but im tight so the rest of my bed linen is good quality white cotton. (bleachable)http://www.kingofcotton.co.uk/section.php/10/1/400_thread_egyptian_cotton_percale_bed_linen
Its great your a guy with such romantic ideas but usless its very neutral get your Mrs to choose, Its an expensive mistake and one hell of a trip to the dog house! (personally I like the light brown)0 -

I'm sure she'd be happy with the brown, I'm just weighing up whether to have the 'boudoir' all done up for her return, or to wait for her judgement on the right combination of silk, satin, cotton, and colours, etc.0
