Red Debt Collection (Lowells) & 3 mobile

The watchdog story looks pretty identical to my own and GJack's. B@s**** are doing this to everyone it would seem.
Today I got a written response from one of my original emails which I sent to 3, Lowell, MH and BCW. I'm not entirely sure which email its responding to though, because this letter is from Red. lol. So now I have 5 companies on my back for a £27 fee that I don't owe.
All the new letter says is they have recieved my query, they are looking in to it and I have no need to contact them again. What a shame, I already sent letters off to the four companies yesterday.
Anyone know why I would recieve this from red? Heck, even if I wanted to pay its becoming more and more confusing as to where it would go.0 -
Update:
I've just called the 'helpline' that Lowell have 'set up' to deal with this. Remarkably they initially asked me to pay the outstanding balance, then after I explained the watchdog situation, I was offered the 'opportunity' to clear the debt (which I not received any proof of) for half price! Remarkable.
So I wouldn't get your hopes up about the helpline; I'm going to have to resort to the 'prove it' letter to clear this.0 -

Some helpline
Just how far will the likes of Lowell  sink in order to line their greasy palms.
NOBODY should pay Lowell, or any DCA for that matter, one brass cent unless they can PROVE BEYOND ANY DOUBT that the 'debt' is genuine.
They are unbelievable. :shocked::shocked:
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

dna - YES THIS DEFFO RINGS A BELL, AND AFTER MY INITIAL EUPHORIA OF HAVING IT IN WRITING THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED, I NOW HAVE A LETTER FROM RED (A DIRECT PART OF THE LOWELL GROUP, AS IT HAPPENS) SAYING THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE PROOF, AND, GET THIS......I HAVE NO NEED TO WRITE IN AGAIN DURING THIS (UNDEFINED TIMESCALE) PROCESS
I HAVE PHOTOCOPIED THE BCW "IT'S CLOSED" LETTER, AND AM GOING TO SEND IT TO RED, WITH THE RELEVANT SECTION HIGHLIGHTED. OH, AND THE RED LETTER WAS DATED THE DAY I RECEIVED THE BCW "ITS CLOSED" LETTER...............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Dear sir/madam
Re: Account number: *******
I have been contacted by a company called “Connect” of Kilmarnock claiming that I owe you £45.99. I dispute this. I have also been contacted by RED debt collection and Mackenzie Hall in reference to this also.
Therefore I am requesting all information held by you in reference to me In the first part under the Data Protection Act 1998:
Under the Data Protection Act 1984 and 1998, and including the right of subject access under these acts, please supply me with a complete list of transactions and charges relating to the above accounts held with you since they were opened.
Additionally where there has been any event in my account history over this period which has required manual intervention by any member of your staff or any other person, I require disclosure of any indication or notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention or other evidence of that manual intervention in relation to my business with you.
If you are unable to supply data relating to manual intervention because there has been no such manual intervention then please be kind as to confirm this in your response to this request.
For the avoidance of any and all doubt, I reiterate:
I hereby request that you supply me with any and all historical data in your possession which, in any way appertains to me, including (but not exhaustively) a copy of the original signed executed agreement; statements of account; duplicate statements and/or print outs of all account transactions; all internal and external correspondence sent or received by you including memo’s, logs, notes, screen prints and transcripts; notes of manual interventions such as telephone attendants' notes, copies of stored telephone conversations, internal and external emails; any other information held on any/all types of media in any relevant filing system (microfiche included).
If you have disclosed any information to a third party (with or without my express permission), will you please include details of this in your reply, along with notes of any legal action passed or pending (to include a true copy of default notices, court orders and the like).
Where any information that you provide includes any charges, for example returned payments, late payment fees, and so forth, would you please advise your breakdown of actual costs (liquidated damages) incurred for each charge, and the Term or Condition on which you rely upon to claim such a charge.
I also require that you forward, within the above mentioned time scale, a true copy of the Terms and Conditions that were in force at the time my account was opened, and any subsequent amendments to those Terms and Conditions.
I enclose the statutory maximum fee of £10.00 to access ALL data held by 3 Mobile about myself. You should be fully aware of your statutory obligations under the Data Protection Act and that any failure to comply with this request will involve a complaint to the ICO as well as potential legal action.
You have 28 days in which to comply with this request.
Please also remember that you are responsible for providing this information to me as my contract was with you and not another other company.
This communication has been sent Recorded Delivery so I can ensure compliance on these issues within the legislative timeframes. A copy of this letter has also been sent to Connect.
Yours sincerely0 -
Hi J K
Nice letter. I wasn't sure how to request a SAR so it's been of great help.
My situation is similar except that I'd never heard of 3 Mobile until I started receiving threatening letters from debt recovery companies. I've never had a phone contract with them or anyone else for that matter. I'm being pursued by an outfit called SRJ Debt Recoveries who seem to be a particularly refined and sensitive bunch with over developed social conscience.
I do feel however that the term "bottom feeder" to describe the activities of Lowell, SRJ, etc maligns the blamess life of catfish and other piscine species that perform an essential and worthwhile cleaning up job in lakes and rivers around the world! The description I'd actually like to use is unprintable so I'm waiting to use it when they phone me.
They've somehow obtained my phone number and rang while I was at work today. Fortunately my wife had the good sense to tell them nothing - her tactic was to keep repeating that "I'm the person who answers the phone".
Good luck and let us know the outcome.
Regards

Hi.
Thanks Jon.
I didn't write that letter. I copied it from another site. And for the life of me I can't find it again to give a reference for the credit.
I Like cat fish too and do feel a little sorry for them having lowlife scum like mac hall etc compared to them.
When I was posting the letters in the village post office, I got chatting to the post mistress and said that they were letters to a debt collection agency and she said that she'd seen something like that on Watchdog the other night. I laughed and told her that one of the letters was going to the people featured in the watchdog program. :rotfl:0 -

inretro, why not contact Watchdog and tell them this? I am sure they would love to know what Lowell are doing with their "helpline".If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
