Create a rule that says if the mail is received through x account send it to a specific folder.
Right click 'local folders' (above inbox) and create a new folder, name it uni or ntl or whatever. Then go to:
Tools, message rules, mail, tick 'where message is from a specified account', tick move to this folder. click the highlighted word 'specified' and choose the account you want to go into the new folder. Then click the highlighted word 'this' and choose the new folder. Test it by sending yourself an email to the moved account.

    Got it working! :)

Anyone who knows how to do it really. I use my Hotmail account through Outlook and I just wanted to store all my Hotmail contacts in Outlook to make life a bit easier.

OK, sorry to be a nuisance, but further messages to this thread have got me thinking. So, lets swing this around a little. I have Outlook Express.

I also Outlook 97 where I have all my names/addresses etc.

If I wanted to bring all my e-mail into Outlook 97, create three different e-mail addresses, have all coming into the same box and be able to choose which e-mail address I wish to send from using a drop down, how would I do that.

My thinking behind this is that it would make sense to have everything under one umbrella rather than having to open various programmes.

    Any help really useful.

    Anyone able to help please?

    .

Right first thing you need to do is find the information for each of the accounts. Once you have that open outlook and goto tools, email accounts, view or change exsisting email accounts, add, pop3, fill in the information (username is usually your email address), then click the test account button (bottom right). If thats okay then okay out.
Do this for each of the accounts and they will all arrive in the same inbox. You can also choose which account to send through a drop down box when composing a new message.

Please note this is using Outlook 2003 not 97 because I dont have access to a copy of 97 and some of the stuff may be different but it should be close enough to help.

To create multiple POP3 accounts under one profile you need the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for Microsoft Outlook 97. If SR-1 or SR-2 is shown in Help - About, you have the IMEP. It should also be listed in Add/Remove Programs.

Assuming it's installed, follow the instructions on that page to configure the Internet E-mail service in Control Panel - Mail and Fax.
  • Many thanks to Safesound and Chippy_Minton for your help.

Safesound - can you please advise what Outlook 2003 has? Outlook '97 has e-mail, plus Caldendar, Contacts, Tasks, Journal, and Notes, although I have not figured it all out yet as I did not previously use it on my old machine.

It would be useful to have a programme where I can just open it up and have all things under the one umbrella.

I do use the calendar and the contacts options in '97 at present.

  • I have now been advised by a Microsoft Advisor that there is no way of upgrading Outlook '97 to Outlook 2003. However, it seems that I do not have to purchase the whole Office suite to upgrade. They state I can purchase Outlook 2003 - not sure of the cost though.
