Surely of you only watch channels like ITV with adverts you won't need a license?

"You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV."

It doesn't matter what channels you're watching.

Not without your permission or a warrant, nope. They're a private company.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Either way, I wouldn't mess with them.

They may not be overly consistent with licensing enforcement, but they do seem to go on semi-regular "let's send out a message and make examples of people" sprees, and take people to court. Almost invariably successfully.

Ah, I'm one of those !!!!!! who likes to mess with them though. :A

They haven't bothered me for ages, but they're welcome to take me to court. I'm one of those rare animals without a telly, and if I do get one it'll be for watching films/playing games, I've no interest in TV save for the rare thing I download, or obsessively watching Reggie Perrin over and over. :rotfl:

Just use your monitor then, not a full-tilt telly.

How they found out i live at the address is i got some TV stuff from a shop who then passed my details on to them ...

    Doh!

As I understand it, if you have a separate lock on your bedroom door then you need one, however a quick read of the TV licencing page says it doesn't matter if you all signed separate agreements you all need your own.

    Gutted for you.

you can have a TV etc your just not allowed equiptment to recieve a signal (live signal) downloading from bbc iplayer is allowed

as long as you don't have an aerial going into what ever your watching they can't touch you
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

That's what I do just now, but my biggest monitor's only 22", and only has VGA/DVI. I'd rather get a lower-res but larger screen TV for games and films.
