I expect they have searched the database for a TV licence in YOUR name, but if you explain that the landlord has a licence for the house you're in and give his name/address etc then it should clear it up. Ring them:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

Or just ignore them. The TV Licensing people are completely useless. We had a TV license for the house last year, my flatmate phoned up about 5 times to ensure the address was correct and they still sent us threatening letters. So we gave up with them and nothing else happened.0

You need to check the rules which are complex. The landlord's license may not cover you for a TV in your room. I know student halls require a TV license for your room if you have a TV there even if there is a communal TV (with a license). So be careful you know what the law is before you admit anything. The TV licensing web site has all the rules AFAIR.0

Definitely. I suspect quite a bit depends on your rental contract. Are you and a group of others collectively renting a house between you, or do you rent the room individually?0 -

Isn't it the case in a shared house where each person has a lock on their room door that they require a tv license each?0

Does Martin's article on TV Licensing answer the question?0
