Nuisance International calls?

Is there anyway to stop these International calls? I used to get the odd one but now it is every bloody weekday at around the same time an International call appears on my caller display. I try and ignore it or simply pick up and immediately put down, or the occasions I have listened it has been silent.
I am registered with TPS to stop UK cold callers but is there anyway to stop International callers?

I have exactly the same problem. We just ignore them now, but it is a nuisance hunting for the (cordless) phone only to find it's international. I think BT do a call blocking service, but you have to pay!Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -
Why not answer and ask to be removed from their database, and that of the company that supplied it to them?
I'm not saying it will work, but since I pointed out to one company that they had the wrong number for the person they were calling (which was true - 4 and 9 mixed up, but I didn't tell them that), nobody else has asked for him.0 -
The ones I did answer that weren't silent are automated (American or Canadian style accent) so no chance to get to speak to a real human.0

Yes. The trouble with some of those sort is they last several minutes and don't clear the call when you put the phone down.
They are probably random-dialling, so wouldn't consider any database block anyway. The tele-sales I mentioned before did at least recommend TPS so I assume they would recognise it.0 -

If you hang up straight away the call is cleared and you don't pay anything. BUT if you listen you'll be asked to press a number and if you do you will start paying for the call at premium rates! I think some people have had bills of hundreds of pounds...Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -

I think some people have had bills of hundreds of pounds...Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I'm sorry, Roger, but I won't participate in this hoax.
What I said is true - why not say something about your my/your own experience - hang up, and decide that you want to make an outgoing call a couple of minutes later, and the garbage is still there.0 -

OK, I was wrongly informed, but why do they bother then? I get these phone calls all the time and the message states I must press 9 to claim the prize... If they gain nothing why do they bother making them?
Now I always hang up and the message isn't playing when I try to dial out.Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -
Definitive reply from TPS by return phone call is that it doesn't matter where such unwanted calls come from, the callers can be prosecuted.
We were asked to complete the on-line complaints form on the TPS site.0 -
