  • Firstly I would get a copy of my credit report from all 3 credit agencies not just Experian as the others my hold something about you that Experian does not.

Are you associated with someone who does have a poor credit rating, if so you can lodge a disassociation.

You need a full written credit report from all 3 credit reference companies in order to establish what is held about you, they cost £2 each.

I would also write to Freeman’s to ask why they have rejected you (on what grounds) bear in mind that the credit score they give you is their own score based on their own weighting system.

Catalogues can be quite ruthless in deciding who to give credit to, and are very strict sometimes declining good people like yourself for no apparent reason.

Good luck and read the reports thoroughly when you get them, any thing that is unclear go back and ask the credit reference company to clarify.
I say what I like, I like what I say!
  • How do i find out which lenders use which CRAs. my rating with experian and equifax seem to be quite different. Thanks if you can help...
  • Has anyone seen their "new" credit score post Nov 1? I'm just wondering whether anyone has found it has improved or worsened their situation at all.

I'm not checking mine until after Dec 1 because I only applied to have my name placed on the electoral roll three weeks ago and they told me it will reflect on Dec 1 because that's when the roll details are published. The last time I checked was about two months ago and my score was an unimpressive 795 out of 1000.

  • Well I have found out the problem. I am not on the electoral roll. Well, according to Experian. The council say I always have been. They are now sorting this out.
Experian say that this has a major adverse affect on your rating, and in my case to the tune of about 300 points.

  • With CreditExpert.co.uk is there a way to view one's credit score without paying?

Isn't it annoying one's own check appearing on one's report.
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!

I got placed on the voter's register about two months ago and STILL its not reflecting on my experian file. Aaaaaaargh!

I was told it went public on Dec 1 and have even had a letter from my local MP stating that my name appears on the register and welcome etc etc but still no reflection in experian

    Anyone else experienced this?

  • Hi,

I applied for a HSBC 0% credit card and was accepted. I then transferred my balance over to a capital one card with 29.9% APR in order to be able to transfer my debt onto there (my original was a First direct card). I duly signed my forms and sent back the documents to HSBC and waited to receive the card. And waited & waited....

Anyway, I put it down to the Xmas post and waited until I came back from my holidays to contact them When I rung yesterday I was told that my original application was cancelled as they had not received my signed forms and that I would have to re-apply. I was also told that this wold not affect my credit score on this occasion and that I was more or less guaranteed to be accepted again.

So, I applied and today I have been declined! I contacted HSBC and they said that there was nothing they could do and that there new decision was final.

I am annoyed with HSBC that I wasn't contacted regarding the original application - should I have been?

I have a low credit score (620) and feel nervous about re-applying elsewhere, but I am now stuck with £700 on a credit card with 29.9% interest with minimum monthly payments coming in at about £45.

Is there anything I can do here to reduce the payments other than paying off in one go? (I can't afford to do that as I have around £50 a month free cash).

    Please help!!

Added a few preious addresses onto CreditExpert - I'd previously only got my current & last, adding upto the past 2.5 years. As I had an MFI loan which I'd settled but they hadn't closed, I was looking for anything similar at my parents address.

Got told that my file was too big to be displayed on the internet (!), and to call customer services. Spoke to a very helpful lady who told me that she'd send me a copy in the post & that they'd have to cancel my subscription.

After waiting in vain for my credit file to be updated with my electoral roll registration info I contacted experian by email to find out when this would be done and lo and behold within 48 hours they'd updated it.

This is the second change I've had to notify them about (the first was an error to do with my payment history on a halifax credit card) Now my credit score has improved from 749 to 950. It's worth querying everything you disagree with on your credit file

I was refused a mobile phone contract with Vodaphone last week, so I applied for my credit file from |Equifax there were 4 credit searches on it made by Redcats for some sale goods ordered at the beginning of December. The goods never arrived, (just like all the hundreds of people on The Grab it while you can board)
I was paying with my credit card anyway and did not ask for an account to be set up. The only other thing on there was a balance of £592 on my credit card which is paid by Direct Debit every month in full. I own my own house and have no debts. My wife had the same thing happen when she applied for a BT Mobile contract in August, and will not apply again because the whole thing upset her so much. It is a good job I had enough monry in the bank to pay for the new car I just bought otherwise I would be having to use the bus. If I cant even get a mobile contract what hope is there, it just seems that you can do nothing about it.
