Not if you're careful
Define 'careful'
I myself am a member of 'myspace' (Amongst hundreds of other sites)
On occasion (Although to be fair they've cleaned this up a LOT) its quite possible to get a 'friend request' and when clicked to goto that profile it auto takes you to some dodgy site which fires a virus at you. Now a keen eye would have an idea that its not legit, but even I struggle sometimes as they get more and more clever with their methods.
My point is that in THIS case he/she would get a trojan:idea:0 -
I don't have virus protection on my home PC or on my old laptop nevr had a virus on either of them. I do scan outgoing mails through my webmail provider. Don't want to forward out something dodgy. I visit whatever sites i want and open many files to see what they are.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

If you dont HAVE an anti virus how do you know if you have one??
You have separate virus scanner?:idea:0 -
I have a virus scanner because contractually I am responsible to have so, but in the last, erm 5 years I haven't had anything that has been suspect.
It's perfectly plausible to run a machine with no security software on it and be fine, it just depends on your usage.0 -
I won't get one, linux viruses (my home PC are very very rare, the only kind found in the wild is called a shell virus - there is some malware but it fizzles outt as updates come out, very regularily) . My old knockabout lappy runs a BSD unix derivative - BSD virus - the system has been hacked twice in 10 years or something - more chance of Student Phil pulling hot twins. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Ahh, fair play
Cant argue with that. Personally I like my PC gamesand some of the applications I run are 'windows based' only, but its each to their own:idea:0 -
Just a matter of time before you get a virus then mate
i got 3 computers and 2 laptops, computers are used for downloading, and the laptops are used for just basic surfing, i know what to go on and i know what not to go on. i found that norton made my log on process onto vista very slow and p***ed me off a little so i thought i wouldnt put it onto my laptop and it has worked soo perfect for me, so i am not putting it ont here any time soon
i know i will not get a virus!!!0
