I think you mean e-cloths, those wonder-microfibre cloths that clean just about everything with just water? I would agree they are wonderful for regular maintenance of your tiles (and anything else in the bathroom), and they'll probably also shift thin smears, but only the thin ones.
You can get e-cloths at Waitrose, John Lewis, B&Q but I found them cheapest on eBay.

always found a window paint scraper for the big bits
then use a scouring pad or even a steel scourer if they are glazed tiles

then a j cloth and kitchen cleaner.

Just for info the scrapers that were mentioned earlier in the post are known commonely as 'Harris Scrapers' as I think that this is the most popular manufacturer of them. They come in a variety of sizes and you can buy replacement blades. They are as sharp as buggery and really effective, more so than generic brand paint scrapers and in my experience you don't need to worry too much about what angle you hold them at when scraping. The only think to beware of is to follow the same rules as when shaving faces or legs; up and down or side to side but never pull across the blade! You would be hard pressed to damage the tiles if you used it properly. I hope that this is of some use to people.
