Sony Centre and refund?
Vegeta
I recently purchased a TV from my local Sony Centre instore.
Its an LCD television but I am not happy with the picture quality even after tweaking it for hours on end.
I've had the set for 3 days now. Since I purchased instore, the distance selling regulations don't apply but am I still able to return it within a 7 day period from the date of purchase for a full refund without the restocking fee mumbo-jumbo etc?
Where do I stand in this from a consumer law point of view?
Quotes from legal text would be great.
Thanks.

Why don't you ask, why do you need legal text first? I just ask because people who want 'legal texts' before they've even done anything tend to be walking disasters at complaining because they're already in a negative frame of mind.
I would phone/ask first and see what happens. If you ask for 'legal texts' on here half will be wrong, others will be irrelevant etc etc .
Did you not see it working in store? It also depends on if it's classed as faulty or you just don't like the picture. I've got a plasma one as when I shopped around & from friends who have them I found LCD TV's tended to have almost a more foggy picture as if you were looking through a layer of smoke at the picture. So with many like that thats obviously the nature of some of them. It's like a 60" screen won't have as good a picture as a 32" screen. Thats one of those things with TV's, they won't all have the same picture quality.0 -

You got me wrong. I only want to learn of my rights just in case I may need knowledge of them now or for a future purchase.
I'm not trying to go in to the store guns blazing but I do want a leg to stand on just incase :j
Its not faulty but the motion blur and smearing makes me nauseous and its the main reason I want to give it back for a full refund. Its a fair bit worse than other LCD models I have seen. I was quite surprised that one of Sony's latest models, a KDL-40V4000 has so much smearing and motion blur.
I've still got all of the packaging for the TV and didn't remove any of the labels from the bezel.
So is the reasonable time to return a product like this 7 days from the purchase date?0 -

I fear if as you say it isn't faulty then your really looking at the goodwill, or whatever returns policy the supplier has. You certainly don't have any legal rights to return.. I suggest in the first instance you contact the supplier see what they say"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

OP listen to UKtim he knows what he's talking about, companies DO NOT supply faulty goods, you're just being difficult

The op has said it's not faulty, after I made my post. So it does seem I know what I'm talking about!
He said he is not happy with the picture quality, so yes it could be faulty. The only way to be sure is to put the screen next to another and compare the two.
Agreed if you just changed from the old CRT (tube) screen to an LCD it does take time to get used to the new screen.
But I have also changed over 700 CRT computer monitors for flat LCD monitors and from the 700 batch I saw about 10% failure rate. In the 10% I had non working but also a large number where the image was just not upto scratch.
So ease up until we have more details and maybe try and prepare before you start posting your wisdom.0 -
