dont have great knowledge of san fran /north

done mostly everthing around la and the south..depends what things you like (strip clubs are good cough )

studios...universal has lots of rides , warner is a real studio tour and you might see some stars, you could do warner bros in the am and some hollywood stuff in the afternoon

what else are you thinking of? beaches , shopping or what
  • yeah all those kind of things, we just read about these bad things at LA....

we want to do six flags as well near LA, would it be best to get a car for the duration of stay in the area and then fly out to las vegas?

we think it may be better to stay in san diego?

well mate we always stay down near disney , its plenty safe and within reach of the parks and beaches

we stay in buena park , its plenty safe and a little way from disney so you dont get stuck in trafic, id deffo rent a car if youre okay driving there , everything is spread out a fair bit and public trans would suck

around the buena park area you have

knotts berry farm(smaller old fashioned theme park) 0 miles
    disney 4-5miles
loads of nice malls 0-10 miles
nice beaches ...seal beach , newport ,hundington 10-15 miles
la is not far ...depending on traffic its 30-1:30hr drive lol
loads of restuarants from cheap -exp

what kind of hotel are you after..budget or flash?

heres a good car mueseum in la

If you don't have long in Yosemite I'd highly recommend staying in the park. We stayed at Yosemite Lodge and loved it. You won't need a car when you're in the park as the valley buses (or your feet) will take you anywhere you need to go.

I can personally recommend the half day bus trip to Glacier Point. You'll get the most fanstastic views of the half dome and the whole valley. Let's just say it's the only place on my travels where I have actually felt almost moved to tears - it's amazing. If you're particularly energetic :j you can get the bus there and walk back down to the valley floor.

I'm just sorry to say we didn't have time to go back when to Yosemite when we were in SF last May :(

We've also done the Napa / Sonoma wine tours twice. Don't be tempted by the big coach tours to wine country. Can't remember the company we used but it was a couple of young guys who they took a dozen of us in a minibus - we had a much better time - and the wineries were much more generous with the samples!!

For flights, try skyscanner.net. Recently used the site to find the cheapest Vancouver - SF flight and then booked through the airline (JetBlue - a bit like Easyjet but with a few more frills!!)

    Happy travels!
