Displaying house price on sale board

I’m having my own for sale board made as I don’t want to pay for an estate agent. Does anyone who if there is any sort of restriction on displaying the asking price on the board?
If not does anyone know why estate agents don’t do it?

can't see why you can't do it. I suspect Estate Agents don't bother as prices change frequently - especially now!0 -
The price isn't an indication of size etc so the EA doesn't get an opportunity for any sales speak if people already know the price - they won't know that it's much bigger than it looks, it's been extended or that it has a really top end finish or blah, blah...
In other words, people see the price and make a decision based on that rather than knowing what you get for that price. That's why.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Would it not be a nuisance having to change it every hour as its value plummets ?
Seriously though I agree with Doozer Girl much better they find the price along with the details of No. rooms etc0 -
My flat is for sale at 73% or the market value (some government thing) so it may work in my favour as all over flats will be 30-40k more!?0

The problem is the length of the board required to cover future drops. The maximum length currently allowed is 2 metres (TH planning reg. no. 23/a), although for a period in the 1990's emergency powers allowed board length to reach 3.25 metres. There is no problem with simply swapping to a new board however, although I believe the property must have been advertised at the previous price for at least 14 days before it be classified as a 'sale' price.
The latest trend pioneered by Foxton's is to have electronic boards, where the price is controlled by a computer. Future plans will include a small CCTV which is capable of face (or mug) recognition, and within a range of parameters add a percentage to the selling price. These recognition systems can recognise certain obvious features - eyes too close together, evidence of inbreeding, propensity to Burberry, that sort of thing.0
