North East Organic Growers - Not Happy

Options
Morning All, hope you had a lovely weekend.

I know we have a lot of regulars now that are based in the North East and just wanted to draw your attention to this company.

The North East Organic Growers are the only company in the Newcastle area that I can find that do an organic box scheme. Having looked at their website I signed up for a 4 week trial as I thought all looked good and was reasonably priced.

That was in August (possibly the beginning of Sept but fairly certain it was Aug). And I have heard NOT ONE WORD from this company about starting my trial. Inspite of emailing them and telephoning them a total of 4 or 5 times, and each time being promised it would start soon.

I have now left a (stroppyish) message on their answerphone (they never seem to answer the phone consistently) requesting that they cancel my trial request.

Having spoken to dh about how annoyed I am with them yesterday he said 'Oh yeah, forgot to tell you that x said that they'd stopped using them cos they were unreliable'!!!

So anyway - rant over :o just wanted to share my experience incase any other NE OSers were planning on using them. Actually - if any of you are currently using them could you let me know what your experience has been please??

Thanks

  • I have had absolutley no luck with them either MRS B.

Diabolical customer service, down right ignoring customers, rude staff when you get through to them. meh!
People i know have tried them and they have all had similar treatment!

    Best avoided IMHO.

If you found them using a site such as bigbarn it might be worth letting them know too.

  • I dont know where you are based geographically but Blagdon Farm shop up at Blagdon in the little outlet centre thing, near Cramlington does lovley veg, and other produce too. I always try to get there. Maybe a phone call to them may sort you out as I am unsure if they do boxes but i reckon they could point you on to somewhere reputable that does.

Thank you - it's completely the other side of Ncle for us - we're South West, and nearer the Metro Centre and A1 than Newcastle itself (and yes - we're definitely the wrong side of the Tyne!!!)

Was wondering about trying Grainger Market cos work near enough in the city centre. Any thoughts??

MrsB, if you're on that side of the Tyne I wonder if the place my mother uses might serve your area (or be able to advise). I can't remember what they're called but will find out - I've mentioned it on a thread here before. Mum lives in Belmont, Durham, and I think the company is based in Croxdale (village between Durham and Spennymoor).

That's Butterby's. I use them and they are fantastic. Food is fresh and tasty, and you always get a quirky note included that makes me grin! Sometimes you get a recipe too.

I'm not sure how far out of Durham they travel, but it's worth a call to ask.
Here I go again on my own....

Unfortunately that's probably a bit far away - they're just over 20 miles away, so I wouldnt expect they do come up this far. Looks lovely though, and just the sort of thing I'm after.

We actually live quite a bit closer to Newcastle than I'm obviously leading you all to believe!! It's not much more than 7 miles from our house to the city centre - we live in a lovely village along the road out to Consett. Sorry - dont mean to be cryptic but I cant be having you all landing on my doorstep!!! :rotfl:
