It was a great day out though, I haven't been for about 8 years and there was so much more to see, I was absolutely knackered when I got home because it's so big.
Best bit was in the back of the sweet shop watching the saspirilla tablet making and trying the free samples :drool:Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I Love Beamish Too!!!!!
We did the Friends of a couple of times too, but we found we'd really only go once or twice a year if family / friends came to visit and wanted to go out. Still fab though. My friends dad was born in one of the colliery houses that's set up there too.
Cant believe what a small world it is and how many OSers there are up here - how cool!! We should organise a 'mini meet'. Esp if so many are living literally within 15 mins of each other.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Definately the free samples!!! yum. And its the only place you can buy "japs desserts" without worrying about being PC.
The friends of beamish thing is *definately* worth it. I have been a member, or whatever you would call it, nearly all my life.
Sounds like a good plan MRS B0 -
Yay :T
PS Ancasta - No sympathy needed, the wind tends to blow in the opposite direction so we dont tend to get too much of the Consett smell!!!! :rotfl:I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. Bit off topic but i took my boyfriend to Stanley for the first time about 3yr ago in august. I told him to put his jumper or coat on and he couldnt figure out why until we got there, one side of the front street in baking heat and the other in sub artctic chill! Stanley is a weather phenomenon, ive known it to snow on only one side of the street before too! ho hum0

I agree about the strange climate in Stanley. :rotfl:
Consett is always freezing too. I'm expecting to find snow up there any day nowHere I go again on my own....0 -
