I, of course, would then give the difference in HB to my brother, as well as paying my share of other bills.
There's a big difference between £7.50 and £60, so even though the circumstances are not identical I suspect an error may have been made in your case. If someone at the HB office has misunderstood the situation it may be better to ask if the tenants (your parents) can start from the beginning with a new application, but your local CAB will be in a better position to advise about that.
Yes that makes sense and is what I was thinking after reading through all the posts.
There are non-dependent deductions depending on someones income and as your (the OP) income is low it would be the lowest deduction that would be applied. If your income is less than £116 the deduction should be £7.40. The following link gives further details :http://www.tameside.gov.uk/fingen/new/mione.html0 -
Hi all, thanks for the replies.
Well two weeks ago I gave the benefits office my wage slips for the last two months, and bank statements and work contracts that detail how many hours I am working and income.
I'm just waiting for their reply, they should've sent me a letter by now so maybe I should ring them.0 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
