What is the housing benefit for Part time work?

hi, sorry yeh i I mean full time students count as dependants (if living with family in council house), not independants, that was a typo. Yeh I had to stay at home with the folks, couldn't afford to go away for uni. So before then I didn't need to contribute rent, I contributed to the odd bill here and there, but i was only working part time throughout university so I didn't have a lot of money at all.
I think this rent thing applies to those who start uni from age 18, otherwise mature students are exempt (e.g. look below)
If I had gone away for uni then yes, I would have to had to pay for accomodation etc and get out a loan but i decided to get do any of that to save £
Some people have said it isn't fair, but if I am not supported in any way, me and houndeds of thousands of people would not be able to go to university
I hope this explains everything!
e.g. Have a look below (and a simple google search will give you more info)

I think I understand now.
As far as I know, you will not be able to get any Housing Benefit if you live in the family home.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
okay thanks, sorry but this thread kinda turned into an attack on me the op it seems. I think maybe i should explain things better I guess but thanks for the input people0

Didn't see any attacks, just people who were trying to help but couldn't understand properly give advice without knowing/understanding what you were talking about.
I am still confused as to why you received HB but maybe it is just me,
doesn't appear to be a valid reason in your case as it sounded as though you were older than that and were on a higher education course rather than a further education course.Students aged under 19 undertaking a further education course0 -
higher education and further education are the same things I think. Do I sound old? I started uni at 18 straight out of college0
-
Actually have just re-read your other post and think I understand it now.
I take it you weren't claiming HB whilst at uni but your parents were and you were exempt from being counted as a non-dependent adult in the household but now you have left you are no longer exempt.0 -

HE and FE are totally different levels of study.0 -
No I just assumed with you having left uni you would be older than 19.snowqueen555 wrote: »Do I sound old? I started uni at 18 straight out of college0 -

Well done for trying to puzzle it out. Personally I can't be bothered to try and wade through this sort of rubbish from someone who's supposed to be a graduate!0 -
