Can you tell I've nothing better to do? Actually I was trying to work out how on earth they could have been exempt from rent as I wasn't and was worried I had missed a trickOldernotwiser wrote: »Well done for trying to puzzle it out. Personally I can't be bothered to try and wade through this sort of rubbish from someone who's supposed to be a graduate!

Kazzajr is right I think. Sorry, I didn't make it clear, but I wasn't clear on it myself!0

I find it terrifying that someone who supposedly has a degree cannot put together a literate post:eek: ."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0

LOL, well actually my strong point were my assignments. If you wanted me to write in a particularly academic fashion then I could have done so

You've had replies from at least half a dozen people, none of whom has had the faintest idea what you're talking about. Might it not be worth considering the fact that it could be your communication skills that are lacking? I wondered some time ago whether you were !!!!ed, you were making so little sense!0 -
Must admit I don't think we saw the OP's communication skills at their best. If NONE of us understood, I think perhaps it was not worded clearly?
I still don't know whether the OP is living at home with their parents or elsewhere.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Further Education is up to A level or equivalent.
Higher Education is degree level or furthr.
They are not the same thing.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Seven day weekend, there is not a lot of information online about students who are specifically living at home with parents. Most stuff online assumes studnts will go away for uni, but in truth a lot of people like myself actually stay at home because we cannot afford to go away.I think this is what she means as well?

OP, where are you living now?
This is my situation, I am still living at home at the moment
From what I gather my parents have housing benefit, they are on low income, and when I started uni I was and still am living with them. Because of this my ability to pay rent was determined by my parents income situation.
My council said I did not have to pay any rent because I was a full time student dependent living with my parents for the duration of my course. I have just finished my course and got my results in July. From late June the council started charging me full cost rent (because I have finished university).
Is that any clearer? Its actually very complicated, and the various processes I had to go through was all about filling out long forms, and waiting for the council, LEA and other places to determine of eligibility. People are usualy not given an in depth explanation of why I recieved x, y or z, which is why I previously could not give a better explanation. However, I have done some reading online and have tried my best to explain my situation.
and I don't appreciate the negative posts from some of the members on here, if you don't understand it and require me to write clearer then thats fine. Snidy remarks here and there are just not warranted imo.
Maye this link will better explain things, because no matter what I say on here, people keep doubting my situation

e.g. I did not have to pay rent becauseIn Housing Benefit /Council Tax Benefit law, a close relative is defined as:- a parent, step-parent or parent-in-law
- a brother or sister, half-brother or half-sister
- a son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, step-son, step-daughter
e.g.Full-time students who can claim Housing Benefit- Lone Parents
- Income support or Jobseekers Allowance Income-based - if you are getting Income Support or Jobseekers Allowance Income-based you will automatically be entitled to claim Housing Benefit.
- Disabled and those who have been awarded a Disabled Student's Allowance due to deafness.
- Under 19 - if you are following a course of further education (but not higher education), unless you live at home with your parents
