I am not fond of spiders (hate to admit it but I scream at the large ones!).
I went to clean the windows and found a web right across one and this spider sitting in the middle of it. I went to sweep it away with a duster and the darn thing turned and looked at me! it was at least two inches across - I stepped back and it CROUCHED! I went to sweep it away and it JUMPED at me! I am ashamed to say this - but, I retreated and got OH to clean the window! and no - I dont care if he squished THAT spider! I can tolerate most of them - if they dont bother me I dont bother them - but this one was an aggressive bu99er!

I always feel guilty if a sweep away a cobweb. I have visions of the web's owner returning to it and screaming 'My home!! What's happened to it??!!'

We had one that lived on our front bay window, every time the window cleaner cleared that web away it took him one night to put it right back again and it was a very large web... amazing how one tiny creature could do all that work in one night..

    Hi OP.

Have you thought of one of these?

    http://www.betterware.co.uk/betta-bug-katcha.html

I'm not scared of spiders, in fact, my party 'trick' is picking them up and throwing them out the door for the scaredies when I visit them.

You really don't want to see what's in my bathroom btw - it freaked me out when I first saw it  - but I'm cool with it now
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

    Mate.

2 o' clock in the morning, I switch the light on to find 'Boris' in the middle of the bathroom floor....

It didn't like the light and moved like lightning to the hole in the corner of the bath panel.

After my heart started beating again and I'd 'been' - I hit the internet (at past 2 o' clock in the morning) typing "orange legs", "cream coloured abdomen" and "BIG fangs" into Google images and found the woodlouse spider.

Being allergic to loads of stuff including wasp stings, bees and ants (ants? Who's allergic to ants?!), there's no way I'm picking that thing up.

Oh lord, if I saw that (and I had no idea we had anything like that in this country) I would have a heart attack and I'm not joking. I also am allergic to stings.

    Is it still there??? :eek::eek:

    edit: Conservation status
This spider is not protected by law in the UK.

    Good to know...

I'm not going to look for it any time soon. As long as it doesn't bite me, and has a go at the bugs around here then it's welcome to stay - out of sight.

Although.....I've been finding little orange babies around the bathroom, teeny dead things all over the place and I've recently found two dead mice in an upstairs bedroom........ I'm wondering if my new lodger is responsible.....

If he is, then he's brought his girlfriend (there's two of them in here with me??!) and Rentokil don't need to visit....:)

O.M.G. Ginger, that means there's two of them...wonder why the babies died though. Maybe the mice were bitten...where do you live? I'm not moving anywhere near! No offence. :rotfl::eek:

You edited about being two as I was writing...btw aren't the females larger than the males in spider world?

Sorry, I edited before you posted - the teeny dead things aren't spiders, they're tiddly little beetles - the little orange spidery guys are alive - everything else is dying deaths around me......:o
