There's also such as Longsight or Moss Side in Manchester. A colourful area with free entertainment night and day.
Lol I live in Barrow in Furness and yes its cheap, but not as cheap as it used to be, like everywhere I guess....
I bought my house for 19,000 in 2000. I would probably be paying at least 70k for a house now, which is still cheap I guess
Cleator Moor, the other end of Cumbria is cheaper though0 -
Arctic Circle? I imagine self build is all the rage up there!
Can you underpin an Igloo? I would have thought that with global warming, the chances of it staying upright for long were slim.:snow_laugI am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -
Bargain! Is that sofa in the front garden included? & that dumped car in front of the boarded up property next door?Running_Horse wrote: »Limetrees Close in Middlesbrough has several modern houses for sale around £20,000:

Recently there was a burned out house in the same road on Rightmove for £15,000.
Those blue circles on the front of the two neighbouring properties - bet they're those " a famous person lived here once" plaques ( or maybe not)Running_Horse wrote: »Alternatively this house is up for auction in Burnley with a guide price of £10,000:

Looks like you would have quiet neighbours.

what a bizarre concept....
You can buy houses pretty cheap in Iraq, if you don't mind the hole in the roof.
Why would you care what price houses are in some distant place. You need a house where you live and work, not the cheapest two-bed in the country...0 -
some people might prefer to move to a place with low house prices and if it is still a reasonable area to live in, whats wrong in moving to the place with cheaper house prices especially if one can get a job with similar salary scale there. houses are the biggest investment 'most' people make in their lives so why not get a bargain somewhere cheaper than where they live and have more disposable income available for other things in life from ones monthly wages.what a bizarre concept....

same reason why i choose to be in an area not in and around the southern parts of uk where house prices are double what it is in the rest of the country. i would much rather live in a detached house with a garden rather than live in a terraced house with no garden if both houses were for around the same price. i cant understand why people choose to live in a place with very high house prices if they could get almost the same standard of living by living elsewhere where the house prices are a lot cheaper.
ps: non standard constructions will be a lot cheaper to buy but getting a mortgage will be a problem in many such cases, so reselling will be a problem as well.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

Cheapest relative to local salaries?
Cheapest where no employment?
Cheapest without scum as neighbours?
Cheapest where your kids won't get stabbed?
Think we need some qualifiers:rotfl:0 -
Do you mean you intend to live in this house? You must appreciate the cheapest area will be cheapest for a reason.
Or is this just a discussion point?0 -

At this exact second.... Florida...
Afganistan? Georgia Maybe?Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
I assume you're looking for something habitable and, preferably, modernised, in which case this bright little number might be just the ticket:

(Beats me why Dafydd hasn't changed from his 1966 Instamatic to something with a flash.)
However, if you don't know what 'Twll dîn pob Sais!' means, I wouldn't buy it if I were you! :rotfl:0
