Seems like were being scammed  :mad:plzhelpmesave! wrote: »Its happening everyhwere though!
i went to get fish and chips for lunch today. Where we live mini meals have been £1.00 for years now. They have just increased the price to £1.30 (which i know is stillv cheap compared to many other aeas!) BUT the portions are a LOT smaller! This shops has put signs up everywhere saying prices have had to increase as wholesale prices are up, but how can u justify a price increase AND a portion decrease?? what are we paying the extra for ?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

I'm sure there was a post on here a few weeks ago about changing packaging sizes but not the price - maybe on the OS board? - I can't find it now!
At the time I replied re Cider - Strongbow used to be in boxes of 18 cans - often included in supermarket '2 for £20' and similar offers - now it is only boxes of 15, but the prcie is the same, and it is still included in the same offer prices, but you are getting 3 cans less - did they think we drank so much of it we'd be p****d and wouldn't notice???!!!????The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

I've posted about this on the Vent board. Here's the link to the Daily Mail article. It mentions about the Strongbow rip-off as well.

Some chocolate bars seem smaller as do Walkers Crisps. It really does get on my nerves...times are hard for US, yet THEY have these obscene profit margins and then have the bloody gall to do this to those of us who are keeping them in business. I'd actually rather go elsewhere but the local shops have all been forced out by these monster stores (not just Tesco).0

I think that all supermarkets are taking us for fools.
I used to buy Tescos value kichen roll 4 x rolls for 99p then I went in a few months ago and couldnt find it, asked CS- it has been replaced with just Tescos own ( not value). Repackaged containing just 2 rolls for the same price.
I purchased a pack and guess what! they are exactly the same as the previous value pack rolls that I had been buying for some time.
So repackaged kichen Roll 100% mark up in price within a couple of weeks , what a con. I wont buy them now in principle and dont feel guilty anymore using MOC's etc in Tescos.

For heavens sake people!
This has been going on for YEARS.
With food price inflation into double figures, it's one way of keeping products within the family budget.
The issue the OP raised is of misleading 'advertising'. Of course it's wrong to advertise 500ml and only give 480ml. A complaint to Trading standards is the way to handle that. Or even the THREAT of such a complaint!
They're also currently advertising '5 orange' packs which only have 4 in them in our local Tesco. Don't buy them if the unit price is uncompetitive.0 -
Supermarkets make mistakes as do most companies.
They have lots of procedures in place to prove due diligence, paperwork, training records etc..
As for altering pack weights and sizes they can do what they like....doesn't matter if consumers like it or not! As long as the price/weight on the shelf ticket is accurate they are doing nothing illegal.
As consumers we can of course vote with our feet!0
