Tesco Rant

I called in at my local Tesco this morning to pick up some Mayonnaise as Morrison's had none in stock.
In Tesco “Light Mayonnaise 500ml at 84p, although the jar weight was 480ml, I checked with an employee who scanned the item, yes, it was 84p the bar code on the jar corresponded with the shelf tag, this has confirmed what I've suspected for sometime, the supermarkets are reducing the quantity of the items, but keeping the price the same, in the belief the consumers will not notice.
The till assistant called a manager who admitted a mistake on the ticket had been made, and suggested the difference between 480ml & 500ml = around 2p, then said I cannot refund you 2p on the item, the 2p is not the issue, it's the principle, being treated like were stupid and will not notice what they are up to, I purchased the item as it's what I needed, but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr how many millions did they make last year.

It was the lady on the till who suggested I speak to a manager, she confirmed the weight in numerous items was being reduced, and consumer's are not aware of it.i understand were you are comin from i work for tesco and a lot of things are going down in weightClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Yes, it gave something very similar to that on the shelf label, it was something around 16p, which is how the manager was able to work out the difference of 2pmumoffour77 wrote: »Tell me....did it give a 100ml for 12p on the shelf label?

The manager said it was an employee error, not checking the labels correctlly, he removed the shelf ticket.mumoffour77 wrote: »If so you certainly have a case for something under the weights and measures act/order!Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Next time pay for it....but take a picture of the offending item, keep the receipt and photocopy it, and send a nice letter with the receipt + photo, and politly request a refund of the difference from Tesco head office, you might be surprised at what they may offer!! Also in effect it is being dishonest and stealing money from a customer, so if you get nowhere, and your really angry/annoyed threaten legal action!! I would also ring the tesco that you bought the item from, and tell them that your not an idiot, you noticed a mistake, and in line with their double the difference back policy you feel that it should be extended in this case, you were in effect overcharged!!!:jIm going to be frugal:j:DIm going to be frugal:D;)Im going to be frugal;)Beetlejuice Beetlejuice...................:rotfl:0

We need to take action esp in these hard times........Financial experts are predicting that we are going to be in a recession by early next year!! I think some newspapers would have a field day with this!!!:jIm going to be frugal:j:DIm going to be frugal:D;)Im going to be frugal;)Beetlejuice Beetlejuice...................:rotfl:0
