Any help appreciated on change of ISP

I have had broadband for about 3 years - first with Freeserve who are now wanadoo. I am paying £27.99 for 512 uncapped - have tried to get them to change but to no avail. They even said they would charge me to move to a higher speed!! I have two teens who use the internet a lot ( they do contribute to cost) but I'd like to change provider. Would like faster speed but most importantly want uncapped service. I have looked at all the various comparison sites but end up more confused. My current choice (I think!!) is Tesco £17.97 512 uncapped but then I looked at Toucan 15.99 for 2 meg uncapped. I am fairly knowledgable when it comes to computers and have set up wireless network etc at home but this just baffles me. I have been trying to sort this out for 2 months now so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

zazizam unlimited 512 is also a good choice at £15.99 with phoneoption, or £17.99 without, and it uses the more stable IP Stream connection, unlike Tesco and Toucan's Data Stream connection, and it also comes with a 3 month contract, as opposed to a 12 month that both Tesco and Toucan offer. zazizam also do an unlimited 1mb connection for £19.99/£21.99 which you may be interested in, since you currently pay £6-£8 more than this anyway
Toucan uses the Tiscali network - which many people say is usless - slow speeds, etc etc
What you need to do is ask Wanadoo for your MAC - which allows you to migrate to a different broadband ISP, once you have migrated to your new provider, 7ish days later after signing up to them, you should contact Wanadoo, and make sure that they have cancelled your account0 -
I've decided to move from Tesco & go with Euro1net.com for cheapness.
Uncapped 1Mb is £13.99, & 2Mb is £15.99 per month. If you migrate to the 1Mb or 2Mb service, they waive the connection fee. The only catch appears to be that it's a pay up front service.

I'm with Demon Home, currently paying £19.99 a month for 1mb (up to 2mb depending on your exchange) uncapped (and properly uncapped too). Can't say I've ever had any problems with Demon at all, and would recommend that you certainly consider them :-)0

ROFL :rotfl:
Surely this post should be on the joke board? Plusnet are putting restrictions on their service left right and centre. If you download too much. They restrict your speed. All P2P and newsgroup services on this network are already being restricted through their policy of traffic shaping.
There is no way that Plusnet can be regarded as an uncapped service anymore. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Really? I didn't know all that. Useful to know, since I was planning on switching to Plusnet myself.0 -
Info on Plus Net's (and Force 9's) Fair usage policy...

Doesn't look too restricting.

Have a word with Metronet, I think they can transfer from Datastream suppliers http://www.metronet.co.uk/regrade
They are reasonably priced, do not necessarily go for the cheapest, check the ADSL http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/ forums for customer service as well, in case you have problems.

Aside from the fact that Plusnet have moved the goalposts quite a few times recently (with more changes in the pipeline).
Have a look at the Plusnet forum on ADSLGuide to get an idea of how these changes are peeing people off.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
