Is DigitalRev safe site on e-bay?

Hi
I find this DigitalRev advertises a Canon camera [Canon EOS 40D] cheaper than Amazon uk. Is it a safe site for me to place an order?
Has anybody bought any item that is over £700.00 in value from that site?

It is HongHong based firm I believe? Gurantee may be a sticky point,I suppose-Am I correct?
I will appreciate any experience - positive or negative.

£700 on a website in hong kong likelyhood a cheap copy.. I would look elsewhere.. Its not your website is it..

They are not copies, but the original article, and they are a reputable company however they have been known to take your money and then find they are out of stock, sure they give you your money back (or if you are prepared to wait send the goods to you after a shortish delay)

There are a number of UK based specialists who will get close to matching their prices, unfortunately the one I use most often is not advertising at present, I assume he is off on another buying trip.

The big problem is if your items get checked at customs, you get a bill for duty as well as handling charges and VAT on both of these, this can often be more than the saving you thought you were making.

Personally I suggest if you want advice on such a specialist item like this, it may be worth going to a specialist digital photography site.

If its a something like a 40D you want, type in Canon user groups in google, that will give you some alternatives to gain information, and the users may tell you where they purchased their cameras from.

This company is huge in the digital photography world, so if it is this guy's website, he is a very rich man!

DigitaRev claims that they will pay the customs duty & postage for that price

If you go to my above link and select as if you are buying.
Now if you click on your basket,you will recognise the break down. There you will find 17.5% added as for tax and another £20 or so for postage,
All in all come to £33.00 cheaper than Amazon.
