Hi everyone
the weather is so depressing isn't it?

Sleepy I live in south Belfast too, and lucky enough we haven't been flooded but a few minutes down the road its really bad I believe....
Is it ok with you ?
I just ventured to Forestside today and it was half empty this afternoon....
Here's hoping tomorrow is somewhat better.
Hey booklover, it's fine where we are (we're near the new Tesco). Luckily our estate is on a bit of a slope so we don't have much trouble with flooding here. This weather would depress a donkey, I'm going to try to sit out in the garden for a wee while while the suns out today.
The BBC weather site is giving for a bit of better weather this week so hopefully it'll help dry things out. It's terrible for anyone who's house is flooded. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
So what happened with the underpass? Did they forget to put in a drainage system?0

too much water at once and the system cant cope .Do other countries road systems share the same fate? It just seems strange that there wouldn't be a drainage system in place that has a greater capacity, especially considering our climate.
It seems anyone affected by flooding WILL be getting money from The Executive ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Week government departments with no cohesion are to blame. The housing executive, building contractors and roads service seem to get away with whatever they want. Where I live there was a new housing estate built and all their pipe work was connected into the existing drains which were already working at full capacity. The contractor who built the estate should have been made to upgrade the existing drainage system as well. Now the whole road is flooded because of the new houses.
Another thing that makes flooding worse is asphalt. Instead of spending more on brick paving which will alleviate the run-off, the DOE are allowed to lay the worst possible material for water absorption.0 -
I have a relative who lives in Whiteabbey, Belfast. Can anyone tell me if that area has been affected please?0

I'm sure it was. Jerusalem never fairs well.0
