Warning lamp on VW Touran - help!
Comments

is it a warning lamp on the display?
Or has the "ESP" on the button just lit up?
You can turn the "ESP" off by pushing the button once(this displays a warning on the dash and iluminates the button) you can turn it back on by pressing it again.
But you knew that right??;)“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
check the sensors on the wheels for stuff sticking to them
undo the battery for an hour to clear the code0 -
The warning light is on and the ESP button still displays 'off' when I press it. Will try the other suggestions and let you know. Many thanks0

It may be the ABS module. We seem to be doing loads of them at the minute! Near enough every other one seems to be failing!
2nd hand ones can be got for about £100.0 -
My car is still under warranty. Is this likely to be covered?0

Should be and all VW dealers know that it's a common fault.0
-
well as it sounds like a common fault and its under warranty take it back to vw!0
-
Great, thanks. Getting them to return my call is half the battle. When you're not in the market for a new car, they're not quite so enthusiastic. I'll let VW take care of this one esp since my warranty runs out in 10 weeks!0

Have a push and prod of everything to make sure it all works and make use of the ten weeks left...!!0

Have worked at a VW dealer for 5years now, not a 'common fault' to my knowledge.harveybobbles wrote: »Should be and all VW dealers know that it's a common fault.
And if it's under warrenty why, oh why, would you not consider taking it to an 'expensive dealer'?! You dont have to pay a bean and you'll get a courtesy vehicle to match your current cars spec while your car's being worked on...? PLUS you will get a VW trained tehcnician using a VW specific diagnostics machine and VW parts with a 2year nationwide guarantee, even if your warrent runs out before those 2years are up. Surely a better diagnosis than the posts above "It may be the ABS module...2nd hand ones can be got for about £100."??? Recommending a 2nd hand unit be used on a warrentied vehicle?! And a brake ABS unit, not exactly not a safety item  what if the 2nd hand unit were to fail outside of the 3month warrenty?! And the Lord forbid it caused an accident...
I dont understand the animosity aimed at dealers?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0
