Funny thing is people are trying to profit from this which I think is ridiculous. Why charge someone over rrp? Additionally, the unsuspecting buyer will find they have no warranty which people pay good money for alone. Honestly, if sony want to gain any kind of share market they will be forced to drop the price. In a conference the president (lol) of sony said that the ps3 will not be availble to the mainstream console user so will be expensive ?? I think sony want to shoot themselves in the foot and then do it again. They made heavy losses last year and the ps2 kept them alive. Thats where microsoft plays it smart and knows how to gain the market and I believe they will succeed again because its they are truly a computer company with the best links in the industry and better than sony. The PSP (333mhz + expensive memory sticks) will be forced to drop its price because of the more powerful, more capable (bluetooth and gps as standard) and cheaper gizmondo (400mhz with nvidia graphics + cheap sd cards) and the new widescreen edition due soon will really take a blow at sony sales. Also the DS has already taken a very nice market share which sony much be foaming at the mouth about especially since they have been unable to keep up with supply and demand. Current situation- due to lack of supplies people are getting all hyped about it. There is nothing great to get excited about as I already own some. During xmas sony will shove more consoles and the price will drop due to a bloated supply. Already in the US shops like walmart and costco they have an oversupply and are not moving any units but the DS are selling like hotcakes (price helps a lot here + game line up). Around 3/4 are returns from bad units like dead pixels etc but believe me they have cages full of them just sitting there gathering dust. It's possible it could be a ploy by sony to hype demand for europe but who knows.0 -
I spoken to Sony and the one i have will be covered because it was not downgraded and i have international warranty.0

I also spoke to sony europe and if your model does not end in 1003 or 1004 they will not help you as they simply don't support products outside of europe. If you try to register your PSP on the europe site you will find it will fail which further backs up my point as the europe PSP's get the free spiderman UMD where the japanese don't. The only solution will be for you to send it back to Japan or wherever it orginated. Otherwise for the UK buyer, it's as easy as walking into an Argos store and changing it.
p.s. Don't believe everything ebay sellers tell you as a lot of the time they get their money then won't care.
Best to wait for a UK price drop which will happen very soon despite what sony might tell you. I bought a £500 pda last year and this year ts probably woth no more than about £300 and this was from release. PSP has already been around for almost a year so sony is just trying to be hard at the moment.0 -

I half-own a games shop and trust me the PSP price will definatly NOT be dropping before xmas and I would imagine not until next summer at the earliest. Also there will be a huge shortage of these at xmas, we have had to stop taking orders as of last week because we have a backlog of orders (around 150) and there is pretty much no chance we are gonna get that much stock in between now and xmas.
Not trying to prove you wrong or owt mate just dont want no-one reading your comments and thinking that they'll wait until nearer to xmas to get little jimmys PSP cos it'll be cheaper and easier to get hold of thats all0 -

In regard to the free spiderman UMD. Any model can get it UK, Europe, US or JAP.
It dosen't matter which model you select. (1003 - 1004). As i know people with both US and Jap consoles that have received there free UMD.
They just selected 1003 and entered ther serial number and date purchased.
Therefore i would assume this would give them there international warranty and it is now a registered console.
Also.
There is a Limited edition PSP out at the end of the month. Approx £215.
The Giga Pack
includes.
Sony PSP Console
PSP Pouch
1GB Memory Stick Duo
PSP Stand
USB Cable
Battery Pack
Headphones with Remote Control
AC Adaptor
Wrist Strap
Screen Cloth
http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=search&searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=giga+Pack&page=search
Which seems a good deal. As you get a 1GB memory stick, Stand, USB Cable and Screen Cloth for £35 above the normal value pack.
However as nobody has got one of these yet (UK version). The firmware is unknown. (remember at present only upto V2.0 can be downgraded to play homebrew games)
And i am sure you will be able to find discount codes for some web sites.0 -
Anyone know what firmware is required to play GTA?
I've got a v1.52 US PSP and want to get this but dont want to have to upgrade more than 2.0.
Also when I downgrade to v1.50 how do I go about playing my Virtua Tennis (original) which requires v.152 firmware?Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
