MSE Official Insert: Got a bad credit rating but want a credit card? Read our Credit Cards for Bad Credit guide

----

Has anyone received a letter from VANQUIS who are offering what I perceive to be a unique VISA card? By unique I mean the APR ranges between 44.2% and 69.1% on purchases and to top it you get charged £19 per annum for the privilege of being part of the VANQUIS family. Is this the sort of credit card that MArtin warns us about?

  • I did, this is what I did back....

Cut all the peices of paper that they posted to me, into 2" squares except the address bit. Wrote on ,that, if I wanted to borrow £1000 at 55% APR I'd find a loan shark. Then popped it all in the pre paid envelope and posted it back to them. I don't think I'll be hearing from them again.

As a tip, this is a fantastic way of stopping junk mail as the companies get sick of paying for an envelope of junk being posted back to them!

LOL SORRY! but if I hear another person complain about Vanquis, I'm gonna explode! the ONLY people that complain about it are the people that don't ned their help!

If they don't want the card, why can't they just say NO THANK YOU? Instead of having to tell us how angry they are!

    Sorry :)

Thanks for the coffee though! :)

    ;)

Don't kid yourself! Some postroom slave on work experience will just throw it straight in the bin. But, hey, if it makes you feel better, then that's the important thing. :)

Well some people may have been glad to receive this application. Were you aware they are now reporting would be customers to the credit reference agencies who behave in this way and I have been reliably informed this may affect your ability to get further credit.

Perhaps you should have taken the advice of Niteflyer.
  • CTT, what do vanquis report to experian/equifax then? is there a new category on the credit file titled something like 'customer rejected an offer of credit' ? i dont see how doing as described can harm your credit rating? please explain further.....

But since they don't know who it was you'll probably keep getting targetted :D
