Hi there,
All I can say is - wow! that is bang out of order!! If that was me I would probably result to violence also, but knowing that the wrong way to do it, maybe you should have a word with the 'dad'? He sounds like a nasty man

Bit naughty I know, but when I suspected a prev employer of giving me a bad reference, I had a family friend ring up for one and tell me what they'd said. Turns out I was totally barking up wrong tree and I just hadn't been successful in getting work, but it at least put my mind at rest. The new employer would not discuss it. As far as I am aware in 18 months he only 3 days off with a bad back which he had a Doctors note for. I assume he worked well, or he wouldn't of been there as long as he was. I tried to contact the previous employer but she would not accept my calls.
Thanks

Well, IF it's possible for anyone to have a reasonable discussion with Dad, I would be asking what he said, to see whether or not it was justified. I agree that if he lasted 18 months he shouldn't have been THAT bad, but maybe Dad will say that he gave him every chance. Hard to tell, really.
Why did he leave that job? If he wasn't sacked, you wouldn't think the reference would be THAT bad.Signature removed for peace of mind0
