According to Dixons on Oxford Street, the London area is cleared out with the exception of Dixons at Bluewater which has 3 in stock (as at 12:30pm today).
Hope this helps!0 -
a word of warning from somebody who has been on far to many wild goose chases for the dixons bargains ...
when they say London has been "cleared out" they would not have had any stock in the first place. when the prices get low it is to clear out the last remaining items at the stores that still have it.
often they tell you X has one, you go there, they can't find them, they are on display, they have been returned and have bits missing.
after far too many wild goose chases, i have given up on these dixons bargains ! I remember a tiny canon portable printer for 29.97, which was originally 200. they gave me a list of stores "showing" it. every shop I went into it was a palaver. wasted a two wholes saturday and two sundays, chasing the mythical bargain ...
Check before making a looooonnnng journey !0 -
Good advice from fifo. Even if the store say they have them in stock when you phone them, I would ask them to physically go and find it (and ideally reserve it) before you make a journey.
Also, I have found that the Harmony 659 is a bit cheaper than the 655 and appears to be a similar (possibly marginally superior?) product. They seem to sell for less than £40 on ebay, so I bought one of those instead.
<edit>The 659's are identical to the 655's. It was just called the 659 in North America I believe</edit>0 -
Identical except for the fact it doesn't have the coloured keys that most european market stuff uses!0

Took the trip to Bluewater and picked one up (there was 1 left after I'd been).
I just finished setting it up and it's a great piece of kit - it recognised all my equipment straight away - no arguments about anything.
Many thanks to the OP.0 -
I can vouch for the quality of their support.
I had a problem in set-up with my Amstrad DV3 Sky Digibox where I kept getting random zeroes popping up when using the number pad.
It was one of those issues that is hard to describe and to be honest I phoned the help desk not expecting too much...
Anyway, dialled the freephone number (which is open until 3am as it runs off US hous) and they were brilliant
They accessed my account (you create an online account) and deposited an upgraded version of the codex for the Amstrad. All I had to do then was to connect my remote control up, download the new codex (one-click process) and Bingo - problem solved.0 -

Damn and blast. Oh well, in true money saving style I shall find some coloured stickers or coloured pens and make the best of it.
Looking forward to tidying away my 7 remote controls (which includes an LCD all-in-one jobby that we hardly use anymore).0 -
Don't worry too much, at least the physical buttons are still there, just not coloured. Most other US remotes are missing the things completely, like the sexy new Harmony one for instance.0

Poppycat wrote:These have been on offer a while now, saw them orginally in avforums. Dixons site is out of stock, sounds like there getting rid of it, just like the Kameleon remote I wanted the other week but cant source one for £30.
IMHO not impressed with the Kameleon returned two and about to return a third. They are work absolutely brilliantly, after sales support is very good. However, on every one i have had after about 2 months the numbers start to fade as the handset is Electro-luminescent. It is always the same ones you use most often, 1 -2 -3 -4 and mute etc. Dread to think what it would be like after a year or so! Even though Argos has dropped the price by £20, i still wouldn't have another one.Large Charge
We all get heavier as we get older because, there is a lot more information in our heads!
So I'm not fat, I'm just really intelligent and my head couldn't hold anymore, so, it started filling up the rest of me! :beer:0 -
I was in Currys today (East Kilbride) and found a solitary Harmony 655 for £29.97 which I bought. Maybe worthwhile you checking out your local stores if you are still after this deal.0
