Thanks for the post, pleased with mine
What is a shame is those who decide to use what is suppose to be a money saving site, into lets go and buy them all to flog on ebay and screw everyone else.
At last look there are 14 on ebay, I hope you get stuck wih them all0 -

I agree with your sentiments entirely. Personally I feel people profiting off MSE is a bit like making a profit on things bought for family members, or charging an extra fiver for picking up the shopping for the old lady next door.
Sadly each have their own moral standards, and a number of people feel there is no problems with grabbing all the bargains for themselves (depriving other MSErs) just to make a quick buck on.

There are still a couple available near me.
But I'm not sure about this. They don't appear to have the facility to learn from other remotes. So how on earth would you program it in a few years time when you've bought some brand new HDTV or Blu-Ray device if the remote is no longer supported over the internet?0 -
I have one reserved in Dixons, Churchill Square, Brighton until the end of today if anybody wants it (PM me and I'll give you the name it was reserved under)
I reserved it this morning, but went into the shop at lunchtime and there still were a couple left on the shelves so I grabbed one of those and left my reserved one "reserved", just in case any other local MSE-ers would like it.
let me know....0 -

I agree entirely. I bought 3 here, I got the last 3 there ... hardly a community spirit.0 -

Learning is supported.
I bought one from CCL months back when it was EOL stock then.0 -

I can confirm that the 655 (in common with all of the Harmony range) has a "learning port" allowing you to teach the remote commands from an existing controller.

However the Harmony team have a huge Database of products and as new ones are launched it is kept up to date. So hopefully if your spanking new Blu-Ray recorder isn't listed, you can probably get it listed by a quick phonecall to Logitech. This database of products is common across all of the Harmony range, so that even if the 655 is discountinued, so long as they are still making Harmony remotes, the db will be current.
IMHO a lot more futureproof than a one-for-all type remote that works off a simple code and only allows you to programme a few keys from an existing remote.
The only risk is that Logitech might dump the whole Harmony range and switch off their website, but they have invested in launching some new products in the range, so I think it's got a few years left in the product life. For under £30 it isn't *that* much of a risk.
To my mind it is a cracking product and being able to have a remote control that the wife / babysitter can use for changing channels without having to spend an hour demonstrating it is worth the money alone.

Rufus, many thanks for your post above which included the DSG part #. I managed to buy two of these from Dixons in Hanley (Stoke-on-Trent) at lunch time, so that's one less Christmas present to sort out. They went through at £29.99 and there was one more left on the shelf I found.
I'm looking forward to replacing the pile of remotes on the sofa!0 -
Thanks to Rufus for the info.
Yes, a bit annoying to have them all snapped up and now less of a bargain on eBay for £50. But that's the free market for you. However, I'm not too bothered about paying £50 instead of £30. Especially considering the positive reviews given for the device on this thread...0
