Hi, have done a seach and cant find a thread relating to this.
I had a morgan stanley cashback card, which has now been taken over by Barclays. Just had the blurb through from Barclays re how wonderful the card is now they have taken over:rolleyes: , included in which is their leaflet "summary of changes to your terms and conditions". NOWHERE in the leaflet does it tell you you will be charged an annual fee for the card now:mad: (£20 from your anniversary of opening date) although it does tell you this in an accompaying leaflet in really really tiny print.
So please beware all who have this card, there is a charge afoot which Barclays, in my book, arnt being fair about telling us
xx

Hmmm, interesting. I rang Morgan Stanley to cancel my Gold card with them yesterday and finished up being offered a £10 credit on my account to keep it. I'll be scrutinising the leaflets with my replacement Barclaycard very carefully when they arrive !!0

Hi Gentlepurr - what section of the leaflet mentions the fee?
Thanks0 -
There is some information about this on the thread below :

Hi Gentlepurr - what section of the leaflet mentions the fee?
Thanks
Its in the leaflet called "barclaycard conditions", its the leaflet with the really tiny font size. The glossy leaflet called "summary of changes to your terms and conditions" makes no mention of an annual fee at all.
Since my original post i have contacted Barclaycard who have informed me very abruptly, that it was always in the terms and conditions that a charge "could" be made, and therefore they dont need to make mention of it in the summary of changes. I think its so misleading im pondering running it past the ombudsman. Personally, i have already applied for, and received, an amex cashback card, so will cancel barclays on principle, but the principle is that i will not stand back and watch others being conned.
Thanks for the link for the other thread Nick, yep, it reinforces what i have said, just be warned to get out before your anniversary date, or be prepared to pay the fee. Bloody robbing theives they are."It is not uncommon for slight acquaintances to get married, but a couple really have to know each other to get divorced." - Anonymous0 -
as per the other thread, no mention of a fee in the leaflet they sent me. ref no: BCD90937TD1B 07/080

OK, unfortunatly I have thrown my leaflet away, can we confirm if there are two versions?
Merch has stated the ref number he/she got.
I love the way they say a charge could be made. I am defo going to phone them. I am sure they woukd have to state if they were going to charge.
I love the way the pic of the new card says 'founder member' to make it like we are 'valued'.0 -

'Sounds as though we've all had the same covering letter, but the accompanying conditions differ.
Whether an annual fee is payable depends on the type of Morgan Stanley cashback card you held previously, by the looks of things.
Mine's the platinum version and, once again, there's no mention of an annual fee in the leaflets Barclaycard sent me (ref no: BCD90937CB1 07/08).People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Yes, it looks like there are several different leaflets being quoted here, and maybe different leaflets ARE being sent out depending on what type of morgan stanley card you held, but, for example, my letter from barclaycard had four different leaflets accompanying it, they were:
1. (a glossy full colour leaflet) "Aesthectically different Essentially the same"- a summary of changes to your terms and conditions BCD90937BB1 07/08 NO MENTION OF CHARGES ON THIS LEAFLET
2. (black and white leaflet on matt paper) "Barclaycard Cashback bonus scheme" 6620044 NO MENTION OF CHARGES ON THIS LEAFLET
3. (black and white leaflet on matt paper) "Welcome to Barclaycard" BCD90937BA1 07/08 NO MENTION OF CHARGES ON THIS LEAFLET
4. (black and white leaflet, matt paper, folds out to six pages) " Barclaycard conditions" BCD90937TD1A 07/08. The typeface on this leaflet is half the size of the typeface of the others, and on the second page, under KEY INFORMATION it says "we will charge you an annual fee of £20 payable on account opening and on each anniversary of your account opening.
I do hope that some of us will not be charged, but please check all the leaflets sent to you very, very carefully

On the same principle then, in a months time they could change it to £240 a year to be paid in 12 monthly installments because it says a fee can be charged?0 -

I don't think I got this one.The cashback were mentioned in the main letter.
I have a MS platinum, so therefore I don't recall any mention of the £20 charge. I know MS started charging their 'black card' customers.0
