Two Barclaycards

in Credit cards
I am about to be issued with a Barclaycard to replace my Morganstanleycard, I already have a Barclaycard (2% cashback for petrol supermarket), so I will end up with two Barclaycards. Anyone know how this will affect my credit limit in the future (with the two cards I now have 3 times the credit limit I had before)? I wish to keep the new card ( 1% cashback on first £200 spend per month) but I also like to have an alternative card in case Barclaycard started to mess me around for some reason, will I have a problem if I now apply for a new card with an alternative provider?

I'm in a similar position. Currently, I have Barclaycard Platinum, Barclaycard Breathe and a Morgan Stanley Platinum cashback card about to be renamed Barclaycard Cashback.
When Barclaycard took over Providian and rebranded the card, credit limits were unaffected, so we may not notice much difference. If things change, the only solution is to vote with your feetPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Do you have other credit cards - besides these two - at the mo? If not, I wouldn't have thought so. I believe the national average is five.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Thanks Moggles.

Me too. I have recently got the petrol/supermarket cashback card and today received the letter about the transfer from Morgan Stanley to Barclaycard. Thought it looked quite good initially until I noticed in the small print that they will charge me a £20 annual fee as soon as the account is opened:eek: So I phoned Morgan Stanley/Goldfish and requested my cashback, which out of over £20 they will only give me £15! and said that I will be closing the account shortly. There is no annual fee on my new Barclaycard.
To close a credit card account (I haven't done this before) do you just tell them over the phone and ask them to confirm it in writing?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I cannot see any reference to a £20 fee where is it?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Morgan Stanley customers with the platinum cashback card were not charged an annual fee. If memory serves, this fee was applied to cards other than the platinum version.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I've got a MorganStanley Card, and I've received the letter yesterday.
Having spoken to them this morning, I have been told that I will now be liable for the annual £20 fee. which they claim will not be due until June 2009, which previously I have never had to pay as they claim because I always pay my bill in full. Even if I carry on paying in full now until June 2009, I will have to pay the £20 fee.
She told me that "in theory" if I wanted to cancel, I just need to make sure there is no outstanding balance, I could cancel my card around beginning April 2009 (to be safe), and not be liable for the £20 annual fee which would be due in June 2009 (I think this is the time when everyone would get charged the amount regardless of when you originally took out the card). This year she said I will not be charged the fee.
Can anyone confirm this?
Many thanks
P.S. I'm tempted to move if I'm going to incur a fee. Is the Amex Cashback card the best?0
