Two Barclaycards

Are they offering any additional fringe benefits for this £20 annual fee ?
If nothing worthwhile, then I would cancel.0 -
Morgan Stanley customers with the platinum cashback card were not charged an annual fee. If memory serves, this fee was applied to cards other than the platinum version.
I had a Platinum cashback card and I cannot find any mention of a £20 fee in the new Barclaycard terms.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. You should have a fold-out guide that is labelled "Barclaycard Conditions". Open it out, and on the second side from the first page, it has labelled "Charges" in a table. The £20 Annual Fee is stated there. Interesting they have not mentioned it on the letter to say that £20 will be charged.
Also, currently Barclaycard offer a "Barclaycard Platinum Cashback" card that does not offer an annual fee.0 -

Yes I thought that was a bit sneaky not mentioning the £20 annual fee in the covering letter. I thought it sounded quite good until I discovered that. Will definitely cancel as they are going to charge the £20 as soon as they transfer over from Goldfish - Sept I think!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Likewise. There's no mention of an annual fee in my new Ts & Cs.
Sounds as though we've all had the same covering letter, but the accompanying conditions differ.
Whether an annual fee is payable depends on which version of the Morgan Stanley cashback card you held previously, by the looks of things.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

They said to me June 2009 is when I would incur the £20 Annual Fee. This year I would not incur this fee. I'm pretty sure, they said this was the date for everyone, BUT please do check with them!
They said to get around this (i.e. paying), cancel next year in April 2009, and so long there is no outstanding balance, then I will not be liable to pay the £20 Annual Fee.0 -

The only charges it mentions are for defaults, statement copies and foreign exchange fee, it looks like MS Platinum customers have been transferred to Barclaycard platinum with no fee.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I just checked the T&C's again and it definitely says £20 annual fee payable on account opening, so they are obviously treating people differently, just like Morgan Stanley whereby I applied for a Platinum card and thought that is what they had issued, only to find out some time later it was a Classic card.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
If you go to the Barclaycard website you will notice that they have a "Barclaycard Platinum Cashback" card available but the cashback is not as good as the standard "Barclaycard cashback" card which will be given to all Morgan Stanley customers.
It does cause confusion though to have one "Barclaycard Cashback" with 2 sets of conditions. I wonder if they will decide to charge everyone £20 after a year or so to get everyone on the same page.
Also, the cards on the website seem to be all VISAs whereas my Morgan Stanley card (and the replacement Barclaycard) is a Mastercard.0 -
Yes, Barclaycards can be Visa or Mastercard.
My current BC Platinum is Visa, where there is no fee, but also no cashback. However I was given 2% cashback for 6 months when I asked to cancel that card because I has been informed that my Morgan Stanley Platinum card was going to be converted into a BC.
I have now received details of the new BC resulting from the Morgan Stanley card conversion, and the letter shows a picture of a Mastercard titled Barclaycard Cashback. The BC Conditiions leaflet does not mention a £20 charge.
There are improvements in the cashback scheme.
The cashback used to be 1% on spending up to £2000 pa, then 0.5%. Now it's 1% up to a limit of £200 spending per month, ie £2400 pa, then 0.5%.
The cashback is paid in a better way, monthly as a credit to the account, rather than having to be requested with a minimum amount of £15.0
