Just phoned to cancel my Morgan Stanley/Goldfish cashback card before it gets transferred to Barclaycard and I get charged £20 annual fee. Spoke to a man who said they have no intention whatsoever of charging a £20 annual fee and, as I still have over £5 worth of cashback due, wouldn't I rather keep the card for now as it will be credited against my first statement with Barclaycard.

So have decided to keep it going alongside my new Barclaycard.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

I too have MS Platinum Cashback and received the new Barclaycard letter in August. Read through the T&C then and saw nothing to bother me. When I read about £20 annual fee on here, thought i'd better check again but there is def no mention of any annual fee in the charges section of the Barclaycard conditions. It's my only CC mind and have had run ins with Barclays in the past so will be applying for another cashback card or two with better rate to use alongside this one, and maybe replace BC. Will be cancelling if they ever introduce annual fee!

  • Thanks for this post in alerting me to the £20 charge, I would probably have just used up the cashback I have on it then kept it for emergencies - then incurring the £20 charge next year!

I rang the Barclaycard No that came with my new card, first lady stated - no charges whatsover. So dug out the original letter with the charges mentioned in the T&Sc and there it was, so rang back and the 2nd lady confirmed there would normally be a charge on opening the accout but they are not charging on these Morgan Stanley/Goldfish transfers until next June 2009.

Just called them, we had a morgan stanley plat cashback that became the Goldfish card and is not the Barclaycard Cashback card.

    I spoke to James

They confirmed there is NO annual charge for this card.

Hope that helps you all out

Has anyone actually received a new PIN to go with the Barclaycard which is intended to replace the existing Morgan Stanley/Goldfish card?

I haven't and the card is supposed to go 'live' on 22/9 i.e Monday.

I phoned the so-called helpline on 0844 891 4999 and got a very wishy-washy response, to the effect that PINs had been 'delayed'.

As it happens I have other options, but as far as they are aware this is my only card. They seemed remarkably unconcerned, and bleated an apology for any inconvenience. Sounds like a bit of a botch job to me.

I also far preferred the Morgan Stanley online service to that of Barclaycard.

I received my new pin on Thursday.

It is a bit of a nuisance as I only have two credit cards and they both look the same but I will be using them for different purchases.
