Does your boyfriend share the expenses equally? If you're paying £487.62 per month mortgage payment is he paying the same amount to other bills? If not, maybe he should pay more into the household budget to allow you to pay more of your crdit card bills off.

My boyfriend currently pays the following:

    Service Charge 100.00
    Sky Bill 26.00
    Electric 55.00
    BT 12.00
    Council Tax 90.00
TV Licence Not sure how much this is

He has also loaned me money which he does not want repaid, done a lot of improvements to the flat and often pays for a lot more groceries than I do. It's not his flat and he only recently moved in so I don't feel it's right to ask him for more than he is already paying. I do understand your point but it's not really feasable at the moment. Also, it's my fault I've got such a high mortgage payment as I had to get a bad credit mortgage, so don't feel he should be forced to equal my high repayments.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

I am rubbish with SOA but I agree with including Orange in your DMP. Have you ever thought about asking the credit card your dad has to lower the apr? Just a bit of a shot in the dark don't know if they would or not.

Would this impact on my Dads credit rating though? Also, what reason would my Dad give. He couldn't say it's because his daughter has run up a debt she can't afford to repay could he??

Me and OH don't pay equal shares either. I earn more than him and have more debt than him (most of it from before we got together) - plus he's got CSA payments and two kids to buy stuff for too so it probably works out even anyway.

The house stuff probably works out equal shares but although we share the car it is in my name and I pay all the car costs and repairs. The only bit I mind is that I do most of the driving too

I didn't mean to adjust what you pay them but see if you could get the interest lowered. Write a grovelly letter saying that you have looked around the interest rate is not that "competitive" but you are happy with the service they are offering and would they perhaps consider making the interest rate more competitive. If they did it your £35 would then pay it off a bit quicker.

I know its clutching at straws a bit but its a stamp!

Some have said that they've noticed a really good deal on another card of x% interest and is there any chance of them lowering the interest rate to give him an incentive to stay with them ;)

It shouldn't affect his credit rating to just ask if they'll do him a better interest rate, and he doesn't need to mention anything about you if it's all in his name.

So I don't get charged early repayment fees it'll be February 2010. If my property ever goes up in value though I'll hopefully sell up and move on somewhere cheaper ASAP. I don't think I could remortgage for a better deal whilst being on a DMP anyway. Anyone have any views on this?

That might be worth a try ya know. I don't know how my Dad will react to me asking him to ask them though. I actually pay them £55 a month but a lower interest rate would obviously help a lot.

I remortgaged with the Chelsea Building society and it bettered the rate I was on before with Future Mortgages who were sub prime. You will be better waiting until the end of your period through and by then the defaults that you may have recieved will be a couple of years further back in your history.

I tried Chelsea when I was getting this one but they wouldn't mortgage me as there are too many floors in my block of apartments!! Grrr!
