Wireless 3Com Modem Router + PC Card for £55 delivered

we leave the modem on all the time, however the default settings are for it to disconnect from the internet after a set interval if you're not online via the computer. it also disconnects if the modem is turned off (which is understandable). you just have to adjust a setting in the software so that it never disconnects. can't remember what it is off the top of my head, but pm me if you have a problem and i'll look it up0

Im having great problems with my 3Com Officeconnect when mix and matching other manufacturers wireless cards. Ended up taking WEP and WPA off, taking DHCP off.

I work in this field and from my experience Linksys best brand in quality and range.
Then D-link which also have good range in signal.
You can get Linksys WRT54G in store at staples for £49.
Or they sell a combo PC card and router for £49 the router is with only one antenna
Otherwise the router same as WRT54G. RECOMMENDED0 -

That isn't a modem router, as the first post in the thread.0 -
Hi folks
Lots of discussion here, which is good to see. I notice that a few alternatives have been offered, but these all seem to be routers. The original item I mentioned was a modem router. There is a fair difference in price between the two and a the built in modem makes life much easier for ADSL (if not cable) users.
I think that most brands will have good and bad reviews, but I am buying this to replace an all Belkin setup, which just does not cut the mustard.
I will let you know how it goes if the offer is still on when I am up and running. In the meantime keep up the hunt for a better deal0 -

Does anyone have the link for the 3com modem/router with the free usb dongle instead of the network card? I saw it somewhere but I can't find it now.0

I got the 3Com one sometime ago as I read it had good reviews at passing through houses with brick walls & they were right. I have the router on the ground floor in the kitchen & my computer in the loft conversion & I have full strength signal bars.
I did have a few problems at first having to reboot the router every few days as it would not connect to the internet but that was solved 3 months ago when 3Com listed a firmware update on their website & I haven't rebooted it since. Their customer service is excellent.0 -
